DescriptionSkyworks Solutions, Inc., a leader in the semiconductor industry, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Ph.D. student to join our dynamic team in Irvine, CA. This is a Co-Op position and will start from summer 2025. This role is ideal for a PhD student who is close to the graduation and with a passion for data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), and who wants to contribute to cutting-edge projects within our supply chain operations.
Responsibilities Develop and implement advanced data science models to optimize supply chain processes. Utilize linear programming (LP), Python, AI/ML, and SQL to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy AI/ML solutions, including Agentic AI and Generative AI, to enhance supply chain efficiency and resilience. Conduct research and stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data science and AI/ML technologies relevant to supply chain management. Perform data extraction, cleansing, and preprocessing to ensure data quality and integrity. Participate in the continuous improvement of data science methodologies and tools. Collaborate with other data scientists within Skyworks. Qualifications Must be a student, enrolled in a university making progress towards a Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Production Eng, Operations Research, or a related field. Desired Experience and Skills Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn. Experience with linear programming (LP) and optimization techniques, and with hands-on experience with optimization solvers, e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, or other open-source alternatives (i.e., Pyomo or PuLP). Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras. Working knowledge of LLM techniques are strongly preferred. Familiarity with supply chain concepts and principles is preferred but not required. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team. Strong communication skills to effectively present complex data and insights to non-technical stakeholders. A proactive attitude and a keen interest in exploring innovative solutions for supply chain challenges.#LI-KJ1
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
