Position Summary: The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible for dining room staff oversight and assumes responsibility in the absence of the Department Managers. The Dining Service Supervisor shares responsibility for ensuring residents and guests are serviced in a hospitable and efficient manner. Responsibilities include:
Supervises Cooks & utility workers in the absence of the Chef & Sous Chef. Assist in training.Ensure kitchen and service areas are set up and prepared for each meal period.Ensure all dining room and related areas are properly prepared prior the meal service.Responsible for checking nightly closing of kitchen and closing procedures of Cooks and Utility Workers is completed properly.Have a thorough knowledge of all menu items including ingredients, cooking times, menu specifications, how items are prepared, specials and alternatives.Greet residents; resolve any complaints, problems, or questions that occur.Assist taking tables when needed, including some serving shifts.Ensure all stations are reset and checked at the end of each shift.Ensure all dining staff completed their side work at the end of their shift.Ensure all related areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at the end of each shift.Attend all department meetings.Assist with input of data for resident meal plans.Assist with meal service and resident to go orders as needed.Have complete knowledge of P.O.S. system and ability to trouble shoot any problems.Ability to guide in a professional manner.Assist with planning, set up, and follow through, supervision and execution of all resident and staff catered functions. Responsible for inspecting that all kitchen and services areas are clean, orderly and that all equipment is maintained in good working condition. Responsible for competition of nightly inspection of the kitchen and equipment audit form, documenting any areas of concern and following up on until resolved.Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent is requiredHACCP/Food Safety Certified is required – St. John’s will provideAssociates Degree in Hospitality Management is preferred.Fluent in the English LanguageAt Least three (3) Years’ experience (one (1) of which in a supervisory position) preferably in an upscale restaurant, hotel, country club or senior living community preferred but not requiredPhysical Requirements:
