Dir Sales Marketing

The Director of Sales and Marketing is expected to work on-site at the venue to understand the business, clients, events, and operations and act as a brand ambassador during high volume periods. They are knowledgeable of the inner workings of the business, including front-of-house and back-of-house operations, gaming, and customer habits. This person is present, available to conduct client tours, and works a minimum of two weekend nights per month in addition to attending special events to capture the facility on video and in pictures for future promotional use. The director of sales and marketing is also expected to make sales calls offsite to conduct face-to-face sales meetings with prospective clients.

Qualifications, Experience and Skill Requirements:

Rigorous sales experience (3-5 years minimum) in a hospitality market focused on catering and event sales, and a proven track record of selling outings, corporate meetings, and social events, such as weddings, social celebrations and banquets. Well versed in marketing disciplines, such as media, social, print and digital. Considerable direct experience in authoring and activating a revenue management program to drive restaurant sales and catering rates, while maximizing profit for each segment. Superior sales skills in prospecting, follow-up, and closing. Presents a professional appearance with a pleasant and mature demeanor. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills using contemporary software like Canva and/or Power Point. Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented. Must have excellent interpersonal/relationship skills. Must be comfortable in the use of CRM/sales automation systems and reporting. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Toast, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google Business, TikTok, Snapchat, X, Spothopper, and Adobe is useful. Related experience involving food & beverage and catering sales is required. Knowledge of the greater Des Moines market is preferred. A four-year college degree is preferred, but not required.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Achieve sales/rates/profit goals of the Venue’s catering/events segments. Author and publish group catering sales, advertising budgets. Works 45-50 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and events. Develop, implement and provide periodic updates to the Venue’s annual sales and marketing plan. Develop and implement programs and activities that increase and retain events in the Venue, including, but not limited to, SEO, SEM, social media, radio, television, telephone sales campaigns, direct marketing campaigns, networking events, open house events, and the like. Leads the day-to-day marketing efforts of the facility, presenting the general manager, owners, and corporate advisors with targeted marketing initiatives, costs, and benefits. Utilize CRM daily to build and maintain an events prospect database, track all communications and activities with those prospects, and record all sales made. Respond to prospect inquiries, conduct tours and meetings for prospective events, and sell events. Oversee the development/preparation of contracts for events. Work with the Venue’s General Manager to determine selling prices and menus for meetings, gatherings, and catered events. Schedule banquet event functions, price and prepare event proposals, collect signed contracts and deposits. Transmit the necessary information about all events to the appropriate support staff. Ensure smooth execution of events by collaborating with appropriate department heads. Meet with key stakeholders to present sales and marketing plans and review results. Attend important events to foster relationships that are important to generate event referrals and other club business opportunities. Participate in outside activities that are judged appropriate by the General Manager and/or RealFood regional team to enhance the presence of the property in the local community. Participate in monthly sales calls and/or meetings and the annual Troon sales meeting. Work with venue partners including RealFood Corporate Director, marketing, and PR firms to drive awareness and new business to the club. Oversee all venue communication channels and content including social media, website, app, email campaigns, and paid advertising. Create all branded print and media collateral including menus, sales brochures, venue signage, and any other materials required by the Venue. Work with the Venue’s GM and RealFood regional team to create sales materials/collateral.
