A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Director, Market Access Contracting reports to the VP, Global Market Access and is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the payor contracting ecosystem at Tandem Diabetes Care. Responsibilities include leadership of Tandem’s contracting team; oversight of the company’s contracting strategy, processes, software, and templates; and oversight and negotiation of key agreements, including agreements related to clinical research. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to: (i) collaborating with cross function teams to ensure the timely response to RFPs, RFIs, and other requests; (ii) ensuring implementation of agreements across internal stakeholders; (iii) thinking creatively to develop and implement improvements to Tandems contracting practices and strategy; and (iv) being a pragmatic and collaborative partner to internal stakeholders across the company.
YOU’RE AWESOME AT:
Serves as Tandem’s head of market access contracting. Leads, motivates, develops, hires, and trains team members responsible for all activities supporting Market Access contracts, including credentialing. Leads and collaborates with Legal, Finance, Regulatory, Compliance, and other groups to maintain and enforce proper controls and approvals are in place for all stages of the contracting lifecycle. Defines and maintains contracting KPIs Identifies and implements necessary process changes. Continuously develops and deploys effective strategies to strengthen efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of the contracting process. Drafts and negotiates strategic or key contracts, including but not limited to customer master service agreements, SOWs and payor agreements. Partners with business, Finance, Legal, and Compliance colleagues to negotiate agreement terms. Ensures contracts are timely and properly drafted, reviewed, and routed for approvals and signatures based upon company policies. Serves as a discerning negotiator with a collaborative, problem-solving approach. Maintains Tandem’s market access contract data base. Maintains state level and payor credentialing. Fosters an environment that is collaborative; encourages honest, open, dialogue; and demonstrates a commitment to serve our people, patients, and customers. Participates in the development, implementation & continuous improvement of departmental policies, procedures, workflows, and tools as they relate to contracting and operations. Project-manages key contracting workstreams and initiatives. Supports the short-term planning for the department including headcount, budgeting, training, and systems requirements. Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of department staff. Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities. Also, ensure all regional members participate in on-going training. Develops and manages schedules and performance requirements of staff. Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.EXTRA AWESOME:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a life science, business or marketing or a combination of equivalent education and applicable job experience. Juris doctor or MBA, preferred. 5+ years supervisory experience in the HealthCare, Pharmaceutical, and/or Life Sciences Industry. 3+ years of experience working for a company conducting decentralized clinical research, clinical research operations, and/or clinical research recruitment. 3+ years of experience negotiating agreements within the clinical research space, including but not limited to Clinical Trial Agreements. 5+ years of experience negotiating or overseeing multinational commercial agreements, partnership agreements, complex software and services agreements with vendors, and other agreements with strategic significance and/or high visibility. Experience with technical solutions such as deploying software, managing integrations, and automating processes to achieve efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and foster a mutual sense of accountability across the contracting team. Experience deploying and/or overseeing a global contracting strategy involving multinational commercial transactions. Experience partnering with Finance to incorporate tax and accounting considerations in commercial contracting. Deep knowledge of contract administration, procedures, and practices. Proven leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with team members at all levels within the organization to achieve business goals. Experience administering Contract Lifecycle Management software (preferably Ironclad); experience with Salesforce. Knowledge of applicable regulations including Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA, and GDPR. Proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively manage competing priorities from multiple stakeholders. Proven creative, analytical, and critical thinking skills; able to solve problems and make effective and timely decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, language proficiency in English. Strong attention to detail. Strong coordination and project management skills. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $144,000 - $200,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
