Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country. We are looking for a Direct Support II staff to ensure the efficient operation of our Tularosa program located in Lompoc, CA. Tularosa is an adult residential facility in a community-based setting. This home serves adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders with moderate to severe behavioral challenges and/or significant deficits in adaptive skills. Residents receive on-site behavior analysis services, medical case management, medication monitoring, independent living skills training and community inclusion activities.

 

Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include, but are not limited to:

Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviorsAssisting and supporting in the planning, implementation and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of adults servedAccompanying residents on community outings, medical appointments and other activities, as directed by program managementHygiene careMust be willing to work with adults with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors 

 

General Shifts:

 

6am-2pm (Limited availability)

2pm-10pm

10pm-6am ($1/hr Shift Differential included)

A minimum of one weekend shift per week required

 

 

Starting pay is $28/hr

Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferredOne (1) year of experience providing direct care to adults with developmental disabilities requiredValid driver’s license and clean driving record requiredOne weekend shift per week required

 Must have or be willing to obtain upon hire:

Direct Support Professional Year 1 Certification by the State of CaliforniaDirect Support Professional Year 2 Certification by the State of CaliforniaRegistered Behavioral Technician Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

 

The IDEAL candidate will...

 

Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, understand the theories of behavior management, utilize positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to successfully pass required clearances, complete 40+ hours of paid new hire trainings, and have a strong passion for supporting individuals with special needs.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing required. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required when applying physical intervention techniques in excess of 100 lbs or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to master Safe and Positive Approach trainings. 

 

Work Environment:

 

May require use of protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, protective eye-wear, and gowns. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
