We are currently seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and passionate leader to join our dynamic team in the role of **Director, Academic Design, K-12 Math Assessment** . In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving best-in-class content for curriculum-embedded and curriculum-aligned assessments.
**This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.**
**What You’ll Do:**
Work closely with the VP of Academic Design to execute multi-year publishing plans Tasks include:
+ **Assessment Strategy & Leadership:**
+ Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive assessment framework that aligns with vision, goals and educational standards of the math academic design department.
+ Manage and mentor a team of assessment specialists. Proactively create growth and training plans to keep team skills current. Act as a coach and mentor, developing other leaders by providing feedback and direction.
+ Design and implement a system for metadata tracking and use across multiple math products and digital assets to enable personalized learning at scale.
+ Maintain a strong awareness of the competitive environment, including a focus on assessment strategy, accessibility, artificial intelligence, and other digital technology.
+ **Fiscal and Resource Management**
+ Develop cost estimates and resource plans to meet the assessment needs of the products
+ Understand the implications of customer and sales deadlines, state curriculum requirements, and budget and resource limitations on workflow and schedule.
+ Forecast and manage program budgets and resources, identifying issues that impact cost, quality, and schedules.
+ Identify and recruit third-party vendors, freelance contractors, and other resources to support project plans and capacity needs beyond the existing team.
+ **Data-Driven Decision-Making:**
+ Work with Academic Design Assessment Leadership and McGraw Hill’s data science team to analyze assessment data, identifying trends in student performance and item effectiveness.
+ Create an action plan based on the insights from the data analysis. Identify high leverage actions and make recommendations for improving assessments, teacher support, and student learning outcomes.
+ **Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork**
+ Collaborate with content, digital, and product teams to ensure assessments are tightly aligned with our math textbooks, instructional resources, digital tools, and state standards.
+ Engage in user research, testing, gather feedback from customers and internal teams to continuously enhance the quality of assessments in our core math programs.
+ Facilitate ongoing communication with cross-functional teams to provide updates, maintain alignment to business goals and key objectives.
+ Work collaboratively across functions to ensure plans are in place to manage risks by negotiating scope, schedule, and budget trade-offs.
+ Proven track record of working effectively with developers, designers, product owners, and other cross functional teams within an Agile framework.
+ **Assessment Oversight & Quality Control:**
+ Oversee the development of formative, summative, performative, and diagnostic assessments across a range of grade levels. Ensure that assessments are rigorous, fair, aligned to standards, and meet the diverse needs of students.
+ Establish a quality control process that ensures all assessments are reviewed to guarantee academic integrity, validity, reliability, and accessibility.

**Experience and Expertise**
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
+ At least 5 years of experience developing assessments and/or data-driving solutions required. Experience in both print and digital formats preferred.
+ At least 3 years experience teaching math in a K-12 setting
+ 5+ years leading or managing projects
+ Experience working with and managing vendors
+ Strong understanding of K-12 math standards and assessment best practices.
+ Experience in creating assessments for print and digital formats.
+ Ability to analyze student performance data to refine assessments.
+ Diverse computer skills, expert-level in MS Office suite, proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Smartsheet

The pay range for this position is between $93,000-135,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Click here to learn more about our benefit offerings.
