Position Overview:

The Director of Aviation Operations and Compliance leads the overall development, delivery, and compliance of the Aviation program offered by Universal Technical Institute. This role manages our educational program’s standard operating procedures, operational, and compliance processes, technologies, subject matter experts and campus operational teams. This position is one of two leads for verifying content accuracy for new and existing courseware.

Responsibilities

Inspire and Lead:

• Lead the development of aviation programs and course content 

• Foster continuous improvement and excellence in teaching 

• Enforce policies, conduct staff meetings, and drive consistent curriculum delivery 

• Ensure FAA compliance and implement quality enhancement processes

 

Innovate and Execute:

• Track student preparedness for industry demands and use data for program improvements 

• Assist with program reviews and analyze outcomes 
• Gather expert feedback for curriculum improvements and ensure regulatory compliance 
• Research aviation equipment and manage budgeting, expenses, and capital planning 
• Analyze program metrics for optimal performance  

 

Collaborate Cross-functionally:

• Partner with teams and stakeholders to deliver curricula and manage curriculum changes based on Program Advisory Committee (PAC) feedback

• Communicate program status with corporate stakeholders

• Assist with program launches, including training aids and supplies 

• Prepare for and manage accreditation reviews and maintain documentation 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required. Masters Degree Preferred. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certification is preferred 

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in program technology, Minimum of three (3) years in education, training, program management and/or leadership experience similar experience

• Foster long-term relationships with stakeholders

• Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making  

• Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Ability to gain, understand and apply information and data as it relates to essential functions of the position

 

Management of Personnel Resources:

• Actively look for ways to assist with employees' needs

• Exceptional listening and conflict resolution skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion

 

Technology & Tools:

• Intermediate level proficiency with productivity software (MS Office)

• Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to process transactions, store documents, enter data, or perform assigned tasks
