Location:
New York, NYWith iconic, multi-generational brands including Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair,
Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, and Wired, Condé Nast is
seeking to expand the relevancy, authority, and value that our brands offer to our
global consumers through product licensing and partnerships.
The Director of Business Development and Licensing will report to and work closely with the Senior Director of Global Licensing to develop and execute the licensing strategy for individual brands in the US market. This will involve identifying product and retail partners and implementing branded products and promotional initiatives to engage consumers with our brands, thereby increasing loyalty and driving profitable growth. This sales role is responsible for driving revenue for the consumer products licensing business and is located at the NYC headquarters.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Achieving annual revenue targets with a focus on sustained profitability
Analyzing the retail landscape, finding new opportunities for licensing deals and partnership opportunities that will support the growth of Condé Nast’s brands
Identifying and securing best-in-class licensees through a proactive strategic framework for each brand
Developing expertise in each relevant licensed category and serving as the primary resource for these categories by thoroughly understanding the market, competitors, and capabilities of each potential licensee
Structuring and negotiating business terms with both speed and holistic POV
Managing and nurturing current and new licensed programs with a cross-functional team internally (editorial, commercial, research, legal, and finance) and licensee/partner stakeholders
The ideal candidate has:
10+ years of licensing/consumer products experience
A proven track record in building and scaling brand-led licensing programs for premium brands
A strong US network of business development contacts, including manufacturers and retailers
Expertise in negotiation and deal construction and fluency in complex legal and business issues in contracts with the ability to develop creative solutions
Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams
Proficiency in financial modeling and revenue forecasting
Strong program/project management skills and a thorough understanding of the product development process
Excellent organization and communication skills
Salary Range: $120k-140k
