Overview

We are looking for a Director CBS Entertainment & News that will play a pivotal role in optimizing our inventory control and pricing strategies. This position requires a strategic problem solver who can provide daily guidance on inventory coverage, pricing inquiries, audience metrics, and content review to ensure client satisfaction. The Director will collaborate with various internal teams, including Sales Planning and Marketing Strategy, to track and leverage convergent opportunities. Additionally, staying current with industry data sets and managing quarterly reports are essential to this role. The ideal candidate will bring a keen understanding of marketplace dynamics, negotiation leverage and the ability to help create effective sales strategies across multiple platforms.

  Responsibilities Review of daily client commercial change requests in the inventory control system across all news and entertainment day parts based on guidelines established with VPs and SVP. Providing guidance to Sales Associates, Account Managers and Sellers on pricing inquiries, audience deficiency units, preemption make good options and the coverage of short-term availability daily. Reviewing News stories and Late-Night jokes in an effort to separate our clients from content they may deem problematic. Providing input to Pricing and Inventory (aka Sales Planning) on program changes in terms of CPM index considerations. Creation of customized reports upon request (i.e. category spending, revenue reports for tentpoles, daypart spending). Coordination with Sales Planning on audience stewardship reports by daypart and wholistically. Coordination with counterparts at Paramount Brand Studios and Marketing Strategy, to continuously track ongoing and upcoming convergent opportunities that involve CBS Entertainment and / or News. Staying current with the various data sets and currencies being used for Entertainment & News deals. Tracking quarterly option reports along with review and approval of proposed cuts and attendant CPM adjustments.   Basic Qualifications 5+ years in the advertising/media industry, with strong sales skills in business development, negotiation, and campaign management. Excellent sales skills, including: business development, consultative sales mentality, presentation abilities, confident negotiator, and post-sale re-merchandising. Proven experience in cross-platform media sales, including Digital, Streaming, and Broadcast Television. Proficient in media-related software such as Salesforce, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and other applicable tools.   Additional Qualifications Expertise in broadcast entertainment and news advertising verticals. Highly proficient in PowerPoint and Excel, with a strategic approach for developing cross-platform solutions. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams and projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and presentation skills, with a collaborative and strives for a team-first approach. Working knowledge of digital and streaming media solutions, with experience in political and news advertising as a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $125,000.00 - 145,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.  This position is eligible to earn sales incentive compensation.
