Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Cruises brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Celebrity Destinations on the Hotel Operations Team reporting to the Senior Director, Private Destinations.
This position will work onsite in Miami, Florida
Position Summary:
In this position, you would be responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of all operational aspects pertaining to our Celebrity Destinations within the Royal Caribbean Group portfolio. This pivotal role involves leading internal operations and technical management teams, alongside their support staff, to ensure the attainment of operational, revenue, and guest experience objectives. You would collaborate seamlessly with various support departments and subject matter experts within the organization, facilitating optimal resource allocation and knowledge sharing essential for leadership.
You would play a central role in aligning operational strategies with the brand's overarching objectives. You would need to be dedicated to motivating personnel, fostering open communication, and maintaining direct engagement with on-site management teams, local government authorities, and communities. In the pursuit of an enhanced guest experience and safety, you would need to initiate site improvements and oversee equipment upgrades. Additionally, you would need to provide crucial guidance and leadership for future projects in collaboration with site teams, Private Destinations project leadership, and Product Development. This position is entrusted with managing Celebrity Destinations' financial operating budgets and overseeing its Capital projects portfolio. This multifaceted role necessitates frequent visits to the Celebrity Destinations to oversee operations, teams, and local entities, ensuring effective project management and improvements on-site. You would play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the seamless operation and growth of all Celebrity Destinations, while unwaveringly upholding the brand's standards and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides expert guidance and strategic leadership to General Managers and leadership teams, effectively coaching, influencing, collaborating, and consulting with individuals at all levels of the organization to achieve key organizational service culture goals.
Develops strategic goals, strategies, and optimal approaches for overall operations, working collaboratively with diverse team members to ensure alignment with desired goals and objectives.
Offers counsel and decisive solutions for various day-to-day Private Destination and Project issues, providing continuous guidance to Project Teams.
Monitors guest, team member, and community experiences and ratings to identify opportunities for improvements, consistently evaluating results and ensuring the consistent application of evidence-based tools and techniques for all stakeholders.
Oversees and ensures the management of Public Health, Security, Safety, and Sustainability efforts of the Celebrity Destinations, with support from the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Senior Manager.
Develops, trains, executes crisis management plans, maintaining composure under pressure, and ensuring effective communication during crises with support from the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Senior Manager.
Executes leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, and problem resolution.
Collaborates closely with relevant Shoreside departments, particularly Hotel and Marine Operations, Human Resources, Learning and Development, Purchasing, Finance, Marketing, Information Technology, Food and Beverage, Onboard Revenue, Risk Management, Environmental, Sales, and more to ensure alignment and effective communication across Destinations in key areas.
Drives business excellence through ownership of documentation (e.g., processes, procedures, forms, etc.), key performance indicators, training programs, and brand standards. Acts as the ultimate approver for organizational and operational changes related to operating times, organizational structure, contracts, headcount, promotions, etc.
Manages Celebrity Destinations compliance SQM/SOP processes, ensuring site compliance and revising policies as necessary. Coordinates and secures approval from government bodies for relevant site changes.
Develops operational and capital budgets aligned with the company’s strategic goals. Institutes regular financial monitoring and controls with support from the Business Operations Manager.
Innovates ideas to enhance guest participation and satisfaction while controlling expenses and managing revenue-related activities and services with support from the Business Operations Manager.
Oversees all technical operations with the support of the Director and Senior Manager Technical Private Destinations, including the repair and planned preventative maintenance program for facilities, attractions, and equipment.
Collaborates with Government Relations, Legal, and Human Resources to ensure compliance with labor regulations per the country of operation, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
Represents the Company with community partners and before government authorities, Port Agents, Tourism Ministries, and similar groups. Collaborates closely with Community and Destinations Engagement on projects and programs impacting local communities around the Celebrity Destinations.
Develops the operational aspects of new Celebrity Destinations with support from the Director of Island Projects and Innovation. This includes headcount models, design inputs, equipment selection, back-of-house requirements, owner supply budgets, handover and preopening processes, onboarding and training, marketing materials, information technology inclusions, and more.
Acts as the key decision-maker representing and acting on behalf of Royal Caribbean Group in business negotiations, material decisions, and deal structuring encompassing business, tax, and finance aspects of the destinations. Represents and acts on behalf of the VP as required for Operation projects and guest experience.
Assists the VP and Senior Director with contract negotiations, resolves operational and financial issues, and participates in Celebrity Destinations port discussions, negotiations, and development.
Drives and maintains elevated brand quality and Celebrity’s trade distinction from shipboard guest experience to destination.
Responsible for coordinating financial activities, operating and capital budgets, tracking actual expenses vs. forecast, and ensuring budgetary compliance for the Department.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 15 years of experience in international business and hospitality management (e.g., hotel resorts, cruise lines, tour/watersport operations, amusement/waterparks, etc.).
Previous exposure to international environments required. Previous or current experience in lifesaving and/or health and safety certification preferred.
Leadership experience and ability to motivate and develop an international team. Knowledge of leadership techniques, training methods, human resources policies, and practices, etc.
Experience with quality management systems and managing guest feedback for a large company with multiple properties.
Ability to design and develop presentations for monthly customer feedback reviews, capital requests, development presentations, etc.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work under stress and tight deadlines. Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Development, design, and/or construction project management experience and project management skills are required.
Experience working with government entities and legal departments preferred.
Advanced problem-solving skills and think critically to identify and resolve issues swiftly while considering various perspectives and potential outcomes.
Excellent judgment and the ability to make decisions and assess acceptable levels of business risk.
Ability to analyze complex situations, make data-driven decisions, and develop long-term strategies that align with the organization's goals and adapt to changing business landscapes.
Ability to take initiative, combined with creative and innovative entrepreneurial skills that allow the individual to identify, develop and implement opportunities to increase guest satisfaction.

Verbal and written communication and presentation skills a must. Ability to write standard operating procedures and documents at an executive level. Ability to read and analyze contracts, legal documents, and technical reports.
Ability to organize and manage complex processes with multiple entities is essential.
Strong leadership skills and ability to drive change utilizing relationships with multiple departments and external entities in various cultures and communities. Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills to navigate diverse team dynamics and build positive working relationships both in person and virtually.
Ability to coach and develop the Site Team. Includes providing the appropriate level of direction, enabling others to succeed, and providing open and timely informal and formal feedback.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of employees. Quickly able to establish credibility with partners, government contacts and leaders of communities.
