General Summary:
The Director of Cloud Engineering is responsible for creating and implementing a well-informed cloud strategy, evaluating cloud applications, hardware, and software, and identifying the best cloud architecture solutions to meet the company's needs and business requirements. They will lead the adoption of new cloud technologies, establish best practices, design and implement cloud infrastructures, and develop enterprise cloud guidelines and automations. The Director of Cloud Engineering will oversee all aspects of the GCP environment, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security, and collaborate with various teams to ensure best practices are followed throughout cloud adoption.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a well-informed cloud strategy and adaptation process to align with business objectives.Evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software to determine their suitability for the organization.Identify and recommend the best cloud architecture solutions to meet the company's needs and business requirements.Lead the adoption of new cloud technologies and establish best practices for their implementation.Develop enterprise cloud guidelines and automations to streamline processes and improve efficiency.Oversee all aspects of the GCP environment, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security in collaboration with IT Operations domains.Implement systems, solutions, and processes to manage cloud costs, scalability, redundancy, and continuous validation in collaboration with IT and Finance leaders.Collaborate with IT security to monitor cloud privacy and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.Collaborate with architecture, DevOps, data, and integration teams to ensure best practices are followed throughout cloud adoption. Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, architectures, and best practices.Extensive experience in designing and implementing cloud infrastructures in 24/7 environmentsAbility to develop enterprise cloud guidelines and automations to streamline processes.Familiarity with provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and securing cloud environments, specifically GCP.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage cloud costs, scalability, redundancy, and continuous validation.Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and provide thought leadership and stay up-to-date with GCP and cloud infrastructure advancements.Work Experience &/or Education:
A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in cloud engineering or a related field.Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud infrastructures in 24/7 environments.Experience with evaluating and selecting cloud applications, hardware, and software.Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, architectures, and best practices.Experience in managing and monitoring cloud-based applications and services.Hands-on experience with integrating Cloud components within CICD frameworks.Experience in developing enterprise cloud guidelines and automations.Experience with provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and securing cloud environments, specifically GCP.Familiarity with managing cloud costs, scalability, redundancy, and continuous validation.Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as architecture, DevOps, data, and integration teams.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.Relevant certifications in cloud computing, such as Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.Additional certifications in cloud platforms, infrastructure, or DevOps methodologies are a plus.Continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in GCP and cloud infrastructure technologies.
