About the Role:
The Director of Compliance and Risk Management serves as a key organizational leader responsible for overseeing and guiding Callen-Lorde’s compliance and risk management programs. Reporting to the Chief Population Health Officer, this role is critical to ensuring that clinical, operational, financial, technological, and safety practices align with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and the organization’s ethical standards. Acting as the Compliance Officer, this individual will design and implement strategies to assess and address areas of compliance and risk while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The Director will collaborate with executive leadership, departmental managers, and external stakeholders to embed compliance and risk management into all aspects of Callen-Lorde’s operations, safeguarding the organization, staff, and patients from exposure to potential risks.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Director of Compliance and Risk Management, your responsibilities will include:
+ Compliance Program Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain an effective compliance program. Regularly review and update policies, procedures, and practices to align with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including HRSA requirements. Communicate the program's importance to executive leadership, staff, and the board of directors.
+ Education and Training: Create and deliver compliance and risk management education programs for all employees. Ensure organizational awareness of policies and ethical principles.
+ Policy and Procedure Management: Act as the system-wide administrator for policies, procedures, contracts, and legal documentation.
+ Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify weaknesses in internal controls and implement measures to mitigate risks. Collaborate with leadership to address and close compliance gaps.
+ Insurance and Liability Management: Manage Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and liaise with brokers and carriers to ensure coverage aligns with organizational needs. Partner with operational, financial, HR, clinical, and IT teams to enhance processes and explore technology solutions to improve compliance.
+ Leadership and Supervision:Oversee and manage the Compliance and Risk Management team. Foster a collaborative, equitable, and inclusive workplace environment. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications
Education, Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or other related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
+ Professional certification in Healthcare Compliance from a Compliance Certification Board (CCB) accredited organization.
+ 5+ years of leadership/management experience required.
+ 5+ years of healthcare industry experience including at least 3 years in a provider setting.
+ Expertise in federal, state and local regulations impacting community health centers.
+ Experience in developing and/or improving policies, processes and procedures.
+ Strong project management, time management and execution skills; ability to plan, monitor, track, and follow-up to ensure that expected results are delivered on time. Maintain stamina and persevere when faced with issues or obstacles.
+ A track record of building diverse, high-performing teams and cross functional partnerships.
+ Experience in a social services or healthcare setting and/or a non-profit organization preferred.
+ Effective communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under stress in a dynamic environment effectively.
+ Ability to translate findings into recommendations, actions and reports
+ Strong organizational and prioritization abilities, with a sharp focus on accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
+ Strong computer skills and analytical aptitude coupled with ability to collect, manage and interpret large amounts of data in MS Excel and/or MS Access and other MS applications.
+ Strong leadership and management skills.
