Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?At Travelers, we aim to enable a streamlined experience for business partners to purchase goods and services to help run our businesses. As Director of Corp Procurement & Strategic Initiatives, you will be responsible for leading and executing strategies supporting strategic sourcing, enterprise supplier risk and procurement operations efforts. You also will be responsible for the management and implementation of projects or programs that support unit or corporate goals. This role may manage employees.What Will You Do?Manage, develop and implement procurement strategies and corporate procurement process optimization. Manage benchmarking and analysis of Travelers end-to-end procurement processes against industry best practices with an emphasis on the experience of Travelers internal customer.Manage and amend as appropriate Travelers “Procurement and Vendor Contracting Policy”. Provide any potential amendment suggestions to leadership for review/approval. Work with Contracts and Technology Legal (CTL) and Corporate Compliance on any drafting updates and answer any questions/interpretations of the Policy to the customer communities, senior leadership, Finance, CTL and Travelers Internal Audit teams.Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes. Identify and mitigate risks associated with the procurement process. Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers as appropriate.Partner with other departments, such as finance, operations, and legal, to ensure alignment and support for procurement initiatives and communicate strategies and results to senior management.Responsible for the centralized email box for all enterprise-wide supplier facing communications. This includes monitoring, response coordination and management of key contacts of high-profile suppliers.Make recommendations on sourcing strategies and internal directives to drive optimal outcomes. Partner with sourcing and cross-functional teams to ensure successful collaboration and execution of sourcing activities.Plan and execute team projects and initiatives to meet cost, time, and quality goals, while applying advanced project management skills.Manage quarterly reporting & presentations preparation for all senior leadership reporting effort. Facilitate and active participation in any Corporate Procurement roadmap vision sessions.Work with minimal supervision and is responsible for applying advanced Project Management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.Operate within defined parameters using a proven Project Management Methodology with flexibility to merge different methodologies in accomplishing collective goals.Handle external and internal communications and acts as liaison between VP, Corporate Procurement and organization.Champion initiatives that reinforce a positive and inclusive workplace culture.Build and maintain relationships with key stake holders and develop a positive organizational culture.May manage team development that includes the procurement team providing guidance and training.Administration and gatekeeper for all employee facing discount efforts.Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?Bachelor’s degree Three years of procurement, strategic sourcing, finance, supplier management, administrative or related experience. Knowledge and understanding of strategic sourcing concepts to include strategic sourcing, supply management, cost-price analysis, minority supplier programs, bid solicitation, negotiating techniques and market analysis/trend and Procurement applications. Ability to influence and present to management with strong verbal and written communications, negotiating, directing, planning, organizing, and problem solving. Ability to apply project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet business needs and objectives.

What is a Must Have?Five years project management experience including managing multiple complex program events. Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (e.g. PowerPoint, Teams). High school diploma.
