Director, Corporate Risk Mgmt
**Purpose:** Strategize with Senior Associate Counsel/Director of Risk Management and other UPMC Health System business leaders to initiate and implement a risk and liability claims program that will support the business units of the UPMC Health System Insurance Program goals and objectives. Plan, develop, and monitor all clinical program management functions in conjunction with UPMC Health System's corporate policies, strategies, and business goals. Work closely with legal services, clinical staff and administration to define risk and liability management at the business unit level. Responsible for ensuring compliance with Health System's corporate philosophy and policies. Provide leadership and guidance to the multi-disciplinary teams and facilitates resolution of issues/barriers. **Responsibilities:** + Monitor, trend, and analyze risk management concerns and identify strategies to reduce the risk of medical malpractices claims. + Identify state, federal and UPMC Health System policies and procedures that impact professional liability issues. + Screen for detailed action plans and comprehensive review of operations, conditions and procedures that may have contributed to the risk and liability claims. + Be familiar with the operations and business needs of the System's risk management programs. + Enhanced coordination of risk management activities in and among Program insured. + Identify risk producing events and adopt risk reduction policies and procedures. + Enhance effective follow-up on the implementation of policies and procedures together with implementation of mandatory compliance procedures for Risk Management Program policies and as condition of insurance. + Serve to assist, monitor, and verify the implementation of the various risk management action items adopted by the program following meetings, investigation, and review of documentation and/or on-site reviews. + Direct the assessment of needs related to medical products and equipment failures. + Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives within the UPMC Health System. *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. *Performs other duties as assigned. + Juris doctor preferred or master's degree with concentration in healthcare. + Minimum of 5 years risk management experience. + Knowledge of Federal and State regulations + The ability to prepare and critically analyze data, make appropriate recommendations toward resolution, and follow through. + Strong leadership skills, and critical thinking skills to efficiently navigate a complex health care environment. + The ability to prepare and critically analyze data, make appropriate recommendations toward resolution, and follow-through are preferred. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Act 34 **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
