Job Summary - Director, Corporate Tax

Administrative leader, responsible for corporate wide tax strategy and compliance. Coordination, preparation and timely filing of all federal, state and local tax returns for Corewell Health and all subsidiaries. Directs and oversees the organization's tax policies and objectives. Monitors reporting and planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes. Ensures accuracy of tax returns and works to minimize the organization's tax obligations. Performs tax research and planning to inform Corewell Health tax strategy.

Essential Functions - Director, Corporate Tax

Directs and oversees the review and preparation of federal, state, and local income tax and information returns, tax
estimates, tax extension requests, property tax statements, and supporting paperwork, including support and documentation
for tax uncertainties.Oversees the accurate and timely filing of all property, sales/use and other miscellaneous tax filings.Directs the tax strategy of the organization. Evaluates methods to reduce the amount of income tax and property tax paid. Provides research and analysis in order to refine/define corporate policies and ensure proper tax compliance. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a consultant to key stakeholders in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services and appropriate utilization of resources.Directs the coordination and administration of any tax audits with the IRS or any other taxing authority. Oversees the tax related activities of independent auditors and ensures that all information requests are prepared timely and accurately. Responsible for the engagement of external tax consultants as necessary to complete tax projects.Oversight of appropriate staffing levels. Directs the activities of professional and support staff, as well as consultants, who are engaged in tax.Provides tax support in due diligence and integration activities of new business lines, activities, acquisitions and/or joint ventures. Maintains federal Power of Attorney. Represents the health system in tax matters. Serves as the organizational representative on committees/task forces as a member, consultant, or chair.Maintains knowledge of present tax law and interpret proposed tax legislation. Identify any changes which may impact the organization. Interpret new and proposed tax laws and regulations that are of importance to Corewell Health and perform related analyses. Perform value added tax functions and seek to reduce Corewell Health’s tax burden while in compliance
with laws and regulations.Develops the annual tax budget ensuring that activities are managed within established guidelines.Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit
safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Director, Corporate Tax

Required Bachelor's Degree Accounting or related fieldRequired Master's Degree Business Administration, Certified Public Accountant, or Master's Degree in Taxation7 years of relevant experience Tax experience in a CPA firm or large organization with 3 or more years in a leadership role. RequiredLIC-Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - STATE_MI State of Michigan preferred
