We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Cyber Defense Engineering to lead our efforts in enhancing our cybersecurity posture through innovative automation solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, extensive experience in automation technologies, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading the team in defining and implementing a strategy for implement comprehensive defensive automation to strengthen cybersecurity risk position. This will include working closely with across the Security leadership as well as external peer network to gain early insight to the ever-increasing threat landscape. Work closely mentoring the team and working managing partners to advance the skills of the team and adopt new ways of working and streamlining through automation and AI. Ensure there is clear communications with the CTI, Forensic and Incident Management teams to deliver on the journey with measured risk improvement over time.Lead and build the team skills to create career paths and pools of talent to promote into the sr team rolesLeadership Strategy:Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy to strengthen cybersecurity defense mechanisms.Lead a team of engineers and analysts in designing, building, and deploying automation solutions for threat detection, response, and remediation.Automation Development:Oversee the development of automated workflows, playbooks, and tools to streamline security operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions into existing security infrastructures.Threat Intelligence Analysis:Utilize threat intelligence to inform automation efforts and ensure proactive defense measures.Analyze security incidents and develop automated responses to improve incident response times.Tool Evaluation Selection:Evaluate and recommend cybersecurity tools and technologies that enhance automation capabilities.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in cybersecurity automation.Risk Management:Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in systems and processes to implement automation to mitigate them.Conduct regular assessments and audits of automated systems to ensure effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.Team Development:Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Lead training initiatives to enhance team skills in automation technologies and cybersecurity practices.Reporting Metrics:Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of automation initiatives.Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status and impact of cybersecurity automation efforts.

· BA/BS or equivalent experience

· A minimum of 8 years of cyber intelligence experience and industry leading frameworks

· 5 years’ experience in a security defense leadership

· Experience leading and managing automation and defense techniques defining industry standards.

· Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO, CIS).

· Proficiency in automation tools and technologies (e.g., SOAR platforms, scripting languages, orchestration tools).

· Familiarity with threat detection and incident response methodologies.

· Experience with government agencies and authorized for handling of confidential material is preferred

· Excellent executive intelligence writing and briefing skills.

The base pay range for this position is $142,000 - $244,950

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as health insurance, savings plan, pension plan, disability plan, vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, and work, personal and family time off in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
