UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (UTSD), a part ofUTHealth Houston, invites nominations and applications for the full-time position of Director, Dental Hygiene Program at the Associate or Full Professor level on the tenure or non-tenure track.
The Director of the Dental Hygiene Program will also have the opportunity for faculty practice, and applicants must be eligible for full or faculty licensure in Texas. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene and **is available immediately** . The School of Dentistry seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence in dental education.

The Director is an integral part of the School of Dentistry’s administrative team and will provide innovative leadership, advocacy, and interdisciplinary learning in the integrated dental/dental hygiene curricula. The Director will also promote a humanistic and positive learning environment that welcomes, supports, and respects all students, residents, faculty, and staff.
**Position Key Accountabilities:**
The position has four critical areas of responsibility: teaching within the Dental Hygiene Program in both didactic coursework and clinics, coordinating and supervising educational and staff activities pertinent to the success of the Dental Hygiene Program, research, and service.
+ Provide vision, focus, and mentorship to further develop a dynamic and growing Dental Hygiene Program
+ Identify, cultivate, and pursue internal and external partnerships that lead to collaborative opportunities.
+ Administer departmental planning and budgeting, staffing, and supervising
+ Represent the Department to the School of Dentistry, UTHealth Houston, and the community.
**Qualifications:**
+ Master’s degree in dental hygiene, education, or related field, a doctoral-level degree is preferred.
+ Demonstrated record of teaching, academic leadership, successful research, and/or active involvement in dental hygiene.
+ Credentials meriting appointment to the rank of associate or full professor on the tenure or non-tenure track.
+ Prior clinical teaching and/or private practice experience.
+ Effective communication skills; and,
+ Experience working effectively across diverse areas of focus and responsibility.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
