AWS is seeking a Director of Developer Experience, responsible for defining and driving engagement with the global developer community, delivering developer programs and experiences, engagement with the Open Source community, and acting as the developer audience subject-matter expert advising the marketing programs for developers. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires close partnership across Training & Certification, Engineering & AWS Service teams, Marketing, and Sales. You must have deep understanding of the developer audience and proven expertise engaging with the developer community.
This role requires deep technical expertise, exceptional leadership, and strong communication skills. The Director, Developer Experience will need to have an understanding and perspective on developer ecosystems and emerging technologies as well as a proven track record of successful community building and engagement. The ability to translate complex/technical concepts for diverse audiences, both internal and external is crucial.

Key job responsibilities
• Lead, inspire and oversee the global AWS Developer Experience team, comprised of Developer Advocates; tech teams and evangelists, reporting to the AWS CMO.
• Develop a global strategy for the AWS Evangelism and Developer Experience function that will delight our developer community and drive accelerated adoption of AWS products and services.
• Lead and inspire the Developer Experience team to promote an engaged developer community, fostering relationship building with our global developer community.
• Create and maintain technical content, documentation, programs, events and resources to support developers in using our products.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and online forums to ensure our presence within the developer community.
• Collaborate across Marketing and AWS with product teams to advocate for developer-centric product improvements.
• Analyze feedback from the developer community to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Basic Qualifications
- Significant experience as a leader working in developer experience, developer relations or technology evangelism and a total of 10+ years overall experience in relevant technical executive roles, such as product management or product marketing.
- Strong knowledge and experience with cloud computing services & infrastructure, application development platforms, and other popular programming languages.
- Computer Science or Software Engineering Degree (or equivalent experience).
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English.
- Willingness to travel and ability to work autonomously.
- A history of successful speaking engagements and established industry influence is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years’ experience in IT Infrastructure and/or software development, with special emphasis in areas such as Compute, Analytics/Machine Learning, or Distributed Systems.
- 10+ years' experience working to develop systems and services.
- Practical experience in cloud computing architecture work, systems or application design, development or operations is a requirement.
- Extensive past experience with Cloud platforms is required. Knowledge of AWS an advantage.
- Strong knowledge and experience with social/online marketing coupled with prior experience in product definition, bring-to-market strategies, and in defining industry standards
- Strong content creation, public speaking and presentation skills.
- Pre-established credibility and recognition in speaking engagements and technology publications is preferred.
- Extensive industry contacts in the software development field and the ability to work cooperatively with, and gain the respect of, software developers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $216,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
