The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Team Lead for our Embedded Technology division within Liberty Mutual Investments Technology (LMI Tech). As the Team Lead, you will manage a group of Embedded Tactical Development (ETD) Engineers as well as a group of Quant Engineers. This is a Player/Coach position. In addition to being a people leader, you will also work closely with portfolio managers, traders, and other members of the investment team to develop, implement, deploy, and own tactical solutions such as lightweight data visualizations in Excel, PowerBI, and/or Dash web applications.

 

Note: This Boston-based role has a hybrid work arrangement (2 days per week in office).

 

Responsibilities:

Manage, mentor, and oversee the Embedded Tactical Development team as well as the Quant Engineering teamBuild and foster relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needsMaintain an up-to-date project inventory of work done across ETD, Quant Engineering, and User Developed Applications, and periodically review with key stakeholders as part of governanceWork with stakeholders to rapidly iterate on prototypes and proofs of concepts to quickly test and validate business ideasDevelop and enhance lightweight tools and applications to support the investment community and business partners, utilizing technologies such as Excel, PowerBI, and DashPromote and reinforce LMI Tech standards and best practices for tactical solutions that are developedIn some cases, tactical solutions may be transitioned and integrated into strategic products (to be determined with Product Leadership) Regularly synch with LMI Architecture to remain alignedCollaborate with other team members on various projects, sharing insights and contributing to a culture of learning and innovation

 

Qualifications:

Experience in developing and implementing robust software solutions in an asset management or similar environmentExperience managing small effective teams with a laser focus on deliveryFamiliarity with market data platforms, financial databases, and data manipulation techniquesExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, independently, and act with minimal handholdingEffective communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience; Master's Degree preferred. Generally, more than 10 years related experience with 5 years in leadership role. In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities. In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies. In-depth knowledge of project planning methodologies and tools and IT standards and guidelines. Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques. Ability to promote a team environment consisting of several teams.
