**Job Summary**
This position is located on site in Webster, MA (not a remote position)
The Director of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact MAPFRE USA’s strategic objectives and promoting risk culture awareness within organization. This is achieved via the following:
**Risk Management - Qualitative**
Reviewing, managing, and enhancing the existing Risk Management framework, which includes adherence to corporate risk policies, detailed reviews of existing controls throughout the Company, and oversight of various surveys, questionnaires, and reports to internal leaders, regulatory bodies, and the MAPFRE Group. Ensure ongoing Model Audit Rule compliance as well as reviewing opportunities to make the process more efficient and effective. Meets with and builds effective relationships with risk owners to monitor risks within the business areas. Provides key reports to the Chief Risk Officer for presentation to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Oversees and participates in the annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) report, which is delivered to state regulators. Additionally, provides annual reporting to regulators on various financial benchmarks as well as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Provides updates to the Group Risk Office on multiple risk assessments through various forms and applications within the Group.
**Capital Management - Quantitative**
Ensuring the capital position of the Company is in-line with the strategy and risk policies. This includes reporting, forecasting, and managing MAPFRE USA’s solvency position based on various capital models (RBC, BCAR, and other international solvency models) and performing all related internal and external regulatory capital reporting. Develops a close working relationship with rating agencies, regulators, and internal stakeholders. Works closely with the Investment Area to monitor financial risks, including as a member of the internal liquidity working group. Works closely with the reinsurance area to monitor catastrophe risks to ensure adequate reinsurance protections, as an aspect of the solvency models. Produces the annual capital management plan, which includes dividend payments to the Group and capital efficiencies between MAPFRE USA’s insurance subsidiaries.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
**Education:** Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience preferred.
**Experience:** 9 - 11 years or Bachelor's Degree equivalent plus 11 - 13 years.
**Knowledge:** Extensive level of professional knowledge in field across broad disciplines and business segments. Extensive knowledge of general management, strategy, and policy-setting practices.
**Decision Making:** Makes decisions related to a wide variety of situations within management limits. Interprets guidelines and procedures, applying judgement and discretion. Decisions influence portions of projects, client relationships, and/or expenditures.
**Supervision Received:** Acts independently, work is reviewed from a strategic perspective against major objectives impacting the company.
**Leadership:** Manages multiple functions. Develops and communicates organizational vision. Ensures that overall organizational objectives, budgets, schedules, and performance standards are set and attained.
**Client Contacts:** May represent the organization as a prime contact on various initiatives. Conducts briefings for internal management.
**Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
Understands technical aspects of the various functional area of MAPFRE USA as well as insurance industry in general. Knowledge of modeling trends, accounting, and finance preferred. Proactive in recognizing existing or emerging problems with analysis processes and using project management skills to remediate issues.
