The Director, Executive Communications is a critical role within the JJ Innovative Medicine North America Communications and Public Affairs team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Engagement and Communications (EEC), this role will collaborate with others to build and implement an executive communications program for JJ Innovative Medicine in North America.

This position will build an external visibility program to establish JJ Innovative Medicine in North America as a truly distinctive, pharmaceutical, applying the Company Group Chair’s (CGC) platform to amplify our brand and deliver priority message themes to health care providers, payors, patients and patient advocacy groups, regulators, and other critical stakeholders. This strategy will include paid, earned and owned channels, speaking opportunities, top-tier and trade media, op-eds, and by-lined articles. This position will develop an approach for awards and recognition for the CGC and build out a robust social media presence to include original content and amplification of corporate content. It will also partner with communication colleagues across the JJ Innovative Medicine in North America to ensure all Executive Communication plans are connected and coordinated to drive ‘one-voice’ for the company, both externally and internally.

The ideal candidate will need to bring expertise in employee communications, using a multi-channel approach and innovative formats to deliver executive business updates that are engaging and easy-to-understand for our office and field-based employees across North America.

Key Responsibilities:Support the creation, development, and implementation of an integrated executive communications plan for the CGC of JJ Innovative Medicine in North America, including the use external data and benchmarking to understand competitor programs and white space opportunities. This should support and align with the broader Innovative Medicine North America Executive Platform as developed by the Senior Director, EEC.Identify message themes and build a unique message platform connected to the JJ IM ‘Leading where Medicine is Going’ narrative for the CGC, with awareness of other JJ/ Innovative Medicine executive visibility programs already underway, as well as develop scripts, talk tracks, presentations, and other correspondence. Build and manage a practical and achievable internal and external calendar of executive visibility activities and provide on-site executive support, as needed. Partner with Senior Director, EEC to develop outlines for internal forums (Town Halls, Leader Meetings, etc.) and lead the execution of these forums in partnership with the EEC team. Manage the performance and foster the development of two direct reports. Contribute to the development of a meaningful metrics program, with regular reporting to measure the impact of strategy and tactics. Manage agency partners, as needed. Support special communication projects across the EEC Team.Support development of executive communication strategies/ messaging in times of change.Work with the Communications Public Affairs IM NA Leadership team, including the Vice President, CPA IM NA, to ensure the CGC’s platforms are aligned with and at the vanguard of the North America Leadership Team’s executive engagement.Requires frequent engagement and meeting with CGG and support staff, and possible travel.

10 years of communications experience with at least 5 years experience in organizational and executive communicationsSuperior writing, editing and oral communication skills.Expertise in developing and implementing executive communication strategies.Ability to manage complex, high-impact projects with multiple stakeholders.Knowledge of social media channels, especially LinkedIn, etc.Ability to translate complex information into clear and effective messaging.Adept at building strategic plans and translating into practical application, with close attention to detail.Outstanding executive presence and proven track record of building relationships as a trusted advisor.Able to navigate a matrix environment and ambiguous situations.Deeply collaborative and comfortable driving results through influence.Ability to handle deeply confidential information, including information material to the company.Preferred:Experience with the pharmaceuticals industry, healthcare environment and/or related legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.Experience managing agency partners.Experience working with emerging technology (i.e., blogs, podcasts, etc.) is an asset.Media relations experience.Other:Approximately 15% of travel within the U.S.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
