Director, Expense Management & Reporting

UFG is currently seeking a Director, Expense Management & Reporting. This role provides an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, collaborative environment positioned in our Financial Planning & Analysis team as part of the finance function. This individual will be responsible for producing timely and insightful analysis and executive-level presentations on expenses, providing financial support to business unit, line of business and functional leaders as well as managing company expense allocation standards and monitoring company expenses.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the analysis and reporting of expenses to support decision-making, enhance financial performance, and drive cost efficiencies across the organization aligned with the company’s financial goals Develop comprehensive, insightful analysis and presentations on firmwide expenses Serve as a valuable partner to the business unit, line of business and functional leaders by providing monthly variance reporting and communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making. Mentor and lead a team of financial analysts, providing guidance on best practices in expense analysis and reporting. Lead the allocation of expenses across business units, lines of business and regions within the organization Distill complex problems, concepts, and challenges into simple and actionable direction Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance expense management practices. Work closely with the accounting team to analyze results, reveal inefficiencies, and devise business and reporting enhancements Establish and monitor peer data expense metrics Contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and organization of the vendor management and accounts payable processesQualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or Business Analytics required; MBA preferredExperience:
10 + years of experience in financial analysis, expense management, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Preference for experience in the Commercial insurance marketKnowledge, skills & abilities:
General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles Knowledge of both statutory and GAAP accounting principles preferred Proven track record of developing and implementing successful expense management strategies. Ability to understand, analyze and succinctly summarize financial results Inquisitive nature and willingness to challenge the status quo Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information to diverse audiences Strong leadership and team management skills, fostering collaboration and motivation. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities Superior attention to detail with a strategic mindset Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities and assignments and deadline driven Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Word Proficient in financial modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau)Working Conditions:
