The Director, Design System orchestrates the design, development, and implementation of Hyland's design language and component library at scale, enabling product teams to deliver a modern, consistent, highly usable front-end experience for all our customers and their users.
What you will be doing Strategic LeadershipDefine and drive the overall vision and strategy for the design system, ensuring alignment with UX&I and product leadership in the service of Hyland product goals and user needsTeam and Program ManagementLead, coach, and develop a growing team of experienced IC designers and developers with an emphasis on a collaborative and inclusive team culture Actively cultivate a ‘big tent’ frontend community and contributory governance model for design system ‘consuming’ teams who will also contribute to the component library Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with product managers, developers, experience researchers, and other stakeholders to integrate the design system into product development processes throughout the organizationFacilitate communication and collaboration between design, development, and business teams including evangelism for the design system and its benefits to Hyland and our customers DS DevelopmentOversee the creation, maintenance, and evolution of the design systemEnsure the design system includes components, patterns, guidelines, and best practices that are scalable and reusableGovernance and StandardsEstablish and enforce design standards, guidelines, and governance processesEnsure consistency and quality across all product interfacesTraining and DocumentationDevelop and deliver training programs and resources to ensure widespread adoption and understandingOversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for the design system, test, and ensure its utility for our cross-functional partnersInnovation and TrendsStay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design systemsIntroduce innovative solutions and improvements to keep the design system and its consuming products current and competitive Metrics and ReportingDefine and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of the design systemReport on progress, challenges, and successes to team and executive leadership Budget and Resource ManagementManage resources allocated to the design system teamEnsure efficient use of resources to achieve strategic objectives What will make you successful Degree in design, psychology, or equivalent practical experience 15 years of experience with at least 5 years managing teams Experience managing both design and engineering ICs Experience leading strategy and execution of a design system and UI style guide Experience designing for all screen sizes and exp translating desktop to mobile B2C-level design sensibilities Experience with artificial intelligence and large language models Exemplary communication skills with the ability to articulate your thoughtful POV and advocate for users

Based on individual states’ employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $176,000-$220,000 and eligible for bonus and benefitsWhat you can expect next
