Position Overview:
As the Director of External Reporting, you will lead the organization’s financial reporting function, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of external financial statements and disclosures. This role will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and is a critical leadership role requiring a deep understanding of SEC regulations, US GAAP, and complex financial reporting processes.

Develop and execute a strategic vision for the external reporting function, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall financial and corporate strategy.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team responsible for financial reporting, fostering professional development and a culture of excellence.
Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and other required disclosures.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC regulations, and other applicable standards.
Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to address complex accounting issues and ensure transparency in reporting.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in financial regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
Develop and implement policies and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance standards.
Act as a key liaison with external auditors, providing support for audits and reviews of financial statements.
Partner with key stakeholders, including finance, legal, investor relations, and executive leadership, to ensure consistent messaging and compliance in financial disclosures.
Support corporate initiatives such as M&A activities, strategic investments, and other transactions requiring technical accounting expertise.
Identify and implement best practices to streamline financial reporting processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Leverage technology and tools to improve the accuracy and timeliness of reporting activities.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with financial reporting and compliance.
Ensure the company’s reporting framework meets the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
12+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, public accounting, or related roles, with significant exposure to SEC reporting.
Proven leadership experience in a complex, publicly traded company, preferably within a Fortune 500 environment.
Expertise in US GAAP, SEC regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across functions and influence senior stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience with M&A transactions and technical accounting research.
Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
Track record of driving innovation and process improvement in financial reporting functions.
