Job Description

We Are Brookfield Properties:

We are seeking a Director, Finance to join the Brookfield Properties Corporate team in New York. In this role, you will play a key part in inspiring change and continual improvement. If you are committed to excellence and ready to contribute to a dynamic culture, we would love to meet you.

Role & Responsibilities:

Oversee quarterly consolidation and financing reporting process for a subsidiary of a publicly traded company and various standalone reporting requirements

Coordinate with finance teams across sectors to standardize deliverables and reporting metrics

Review quarter-end accruals and other adjusting entries

Prepare and analyze quarter –end financial and operational results

Manage monthly/quarterly capital call and distribution process to ensure timely and accurate funding

Coordinate and assist in 17+ standalone year-end audits and ensure timely issuance of audit opinions

Review of deliverables prepared by third party property manager, including trial balances and liquidity analyses

Preparation of internal management reports and presentations

Train and develop senior accountants to execute the above, including providing constructive feedback and performance reviews

Liaise with tax, legal, and other finance executives to address questions or troubleshoot issues through transactions or business changes

Partner with various technology teams to automate existing processes and build out new scalable processes as data and information requirements evolve

Your Qualifications:

CPA preferred

Bachelor’s degree required

7-9 years of experience working in public / private accounting required

Strong analytical skills

Understanding of GAAP and IFRS and ability to research and apply such requirements to internal/external reports

Thorough understanding of advanced accounting concepts such as foreign exchange translation, financial instruments, equity method of accounting, and consolidations

Strategic thinker that can think outside the box, focused on efficiency and improving existing processes

Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Excellent communication skills, can work effectively with all levels and departments within a complex organization

Experience managing staff through large projects and tight timelines

Demonstrated leadership ability, a team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work

Can work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Type: Exempt

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Annual Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000

Medical & Pharmacy Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Dental Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Vision Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Retirement: 401(k)

Insurance: Employer-paid life & short/long term disability
