The role is currently responsible for more than 150 full time employees (“FTEs”) across Finance Controllers supporting our insurance business for US, Canada, and Asia segments. We are a Global Shared Service Center for Finance consisting of approximately 600 highly motivated and experienced professionals committed to excellence in customer service across Manila and Cebu. The Finance Shared Services Center supports Finance globally in the Period Closing activities ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, Accounting and Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Analysis and Strategy, and Finance Modernization by partnering with Group Finance Technology in supporting the transformation of our data and architecture toward enabling users to leverage low-code solutions with the COEs. **Role and Responsibilities** Reporting directly to the MBPS Service Delivery Tower Head for Finance Shared Services, the domain lead is primarily accountable for leading the Finance Controller teams supporting our insurance business for US, Canada, and Asia segments. Accountable for the efficient, quality, and timely service delivery of the finance controller teams which include, but not limited to, the: + oversight of the monthly financial close deliverables from accounting (reconciliations and journal entries) to reporting (accurate submission of all monthly/quarterly report requirements of regional/global Finance and Controllership teams). + oversight of the financial planning and budgeting process to ensure alignment with enterprise goals. + managing business queries, conducts financial analysis to support decision making through explanatories and recommendations, and advises Business Units on technical accounting questions by providing guidance in resolve accounting challenges. + managing the efficient preparation and submission audit requirements in compliance with applicable accounting standards while ensuring regulatory adherence. + ensuring compliance with SOX evaluations/reviews/audits, with minimal or no findings. + supporting the update of accounting policies in line with IFRS, management policy and applicable accounting standards. + analyzing financial results, reviewing analysis prepared by others, and synthesizing analysis to tell a narrative story to senior financial managers such as CFOs and Head Controllers. **Leadership responsibilities include the following:** + Develop the financial accounting, reporting, planning, analysis, and controls capability of service delivery teams by sharing expertise, designing and delivering a capability build strategy for current and future work. + Reviews work performed by the teams to provide coaching feedback. + Proactively support and deliver on key Finance transformation strategies, as a priority. Execute on strategic priorities and evolve the service delivery model toward a scalable and strategic global business shared service. Contributes to the development of functional strategies. + Demonstrates an advanced degree of proficiency with reporting and analysis tools while anticipating needs for accounting and reporting enhancements. + Establish a high level of credibility and build professional partnerships with our Business Unit service recipients and key stakeholders in aligning our service offering to the business strategy and requirements. Enable timely feedback channels to align expectations and priorities. + In partnership with our customers, define and periodically refresh service level standards across the teams, consistently deliver on the KPIs as defined within the Service Level Agreements and Schedule of Services, and deliver business value through innovation. + Manage and mitigate risk and issues through transparent and timely escalation/resolution, monitoring corrective actions taken for sustained effectiveness. Validate the accuracy of risk assessments. Accountable for timely and effective closure of audit points. + Timely and accurate submissions on balanced scorecards, performance dashboards (KPIs and KRIs), other required business metrics, and governance reporting. + Drive a high performing culture by adopting and promoting the Manulife Values and Leadership DNA. + Foster cross functional collaboration across Finance teams through the sharing of best practices, continuous improvement, and adoption of service excellence practices. + Develop the domain’s capability and functional expertise through training/ development, coaching/ mentoring, strategic talent management, succession-planning, and managing career mobility. + Manage a growing team with responsibility for hiring, compensation, promotion, and performance management. **Qualifications** + Any professional accounting or business designation such as MBA, CPA, CFA, CMA or CA with university degree in accounting, finance, or business management. + Typically, 12 years of relevant experience in financial controllership, with excellent analytical and technical skills. Experience in finance controllers for an insurance business is a plus. + Sound financial acumen with practical experience. Solid understanding of industry best practice in fiscal management and accounting controls. + Strong leadership experience (8+ years) in leading, managing and developing professional talent. + Experience in working in a broad Matrix organization listening and using influence to make an impact. Proven record of accomplishment and positive reputation to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal, within and/or beyond their business area. + Ability to work in ambiguous environment and adapt to change while managing time and workload with aggressive timelines. + Experience working across multiple geographies and time zones. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across cultures, geographies, and senior leadership. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. + Innovative thinker with the ability to negotiate, influence and challenge the status quo to continuously innovate. Sound foundational knowledge of project management practices and the project lifecycle. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial concepts, anticipate trends, and think proactively to resolve issues and risk. + Outstanding communication and active listening skills, with a strong ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels within the organization. + Highly organized with an ability to work in a fast-paced, multi stakeholder environment and manage multiple priorities. + Presents complex ideas clearly, with an ability to manage the complexities of executing meaningful change and influence individuals across business boundaries to achieve objectives. + Understanding of general finance systems or applications available in the market. Knowledgeable on multiple dimension cube concept, rollup hierarchy, end to end system data flow and interdependency. + Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel.
