Job Description
The Director, Financial Reporting, is a critical member of AbbVie’s Accounting Center of Excellence and manages the external financial reporting team. This role is responsible for managing the preparation, review and filing of AbbVie’s SEC documents including Form 10-K, 10-Q, earnings releases and other. The Director, Financial Reporting, works cross-functionally with several internal stakeholders including Investor Relations, Legal, Tax, Corporate FP&A, Consolidations, and Corporate Accounting. Responsibilities also include finance and accounting policy governance as well as the implementation of new U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC disclosure rules.
+ Manage the external financial reporting team responsible for:
+ Preparation and filing of the Form 10-Ks, 10-Qs, certain 8-K’s, earnings releases, and certain other SEC filings.
+ Monitoring US GAAP and SEC developments and leading the adoption of new accounting regulations and disclosure requirements.
+ Managing AbbVie’s accounting policies.
+ Monitor U.S. GAAP and SEC developments and implement adoption of new accounting and disclosure requirements.
+ Direct the quarterly earnings release process in coordination with investor relations.
+ Direct preparation and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures and management’s discussion and analysis for public filings including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
+ Coordinate cross-functionally with investor relations, legal, tax, corporate FP&A, consolidations and corporate accounting.
+ Manage the global finance and accounting policy governance process including coordination with cross-functional policy owners.
+ Coordinate with Financial Reporting Disclosure Committee and other cross-functional Disclosure Committees to facilitate review of all external reporting (i.e. 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy, other SEC filings, ESG reporting, Investor Decks, etc.) across legal, tax, investor relations and corporate communications.
+ Prepare and manage peer disclosure benchmarking process including frequent and proactive benchmarking of peer disclosures and assessment of AbbVie’s disclosures in comparison to our peers.
+ Prepare various presentations for Accounting and Financial Reporting Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Executive Leadership Team.
+ Take a leadership role in significant ad hoc projects, which vary based on business transactions and priorities.
+ Coordinate with external auditors on various accounting and disclosure topics.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting.
+ CPA required and/or advanced degree a plus.
+ Experience in a complex global organization. Pharmaceutical sector experience a plus but not required.
+ 12+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance with experience in SEC reporting for a global public company and/or considerable public accounting experience strongly preferred.
+ Strong accounting and research skills, extensive knowledge of SEC reporting and U.S. GAAP, and a thorough knowledge of SOX compliance required
+ Ability to work in a matrix organization, build strong partnerships and access available resources.
+ Track record of effectively leading multiple projects and balancing competing priorities.
+ Ability to manage relationships internal stakeholders and business partners including ensuring the appropriate flow of information to meet financial reporting requirements and timelines.
+ Ability to motivate and lead teams, groups of peers and other stakeholders.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to collaborate across functions.
+ Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement continuous improvements.
+ Proficient in Workiva (or other external reporting software), HFM and Excel.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
