Director, Genomic Medicine Programs (Hybrid Opportunity)

The Department of Medicine at Stanford University’s School of Medicine seeks a Director, Genomic Medicine Programs (Academic Program Professional 3). In this inaugural role, the Director will have the opportunity to develop strategy, and lead, implement, and administer large academic programs. The Director of Genomic Medicine Programs will serve as expert advisor to faculty and staff and have a large role in program/entity strategy development, long-range planning, and partnership development with outside collaborators. They will manage a team of bioinformaticians, genetic counselors, clinical research professionals, masters' students and postdoctoral trainees to implement Genomic Medicine Programs across the Department of Medicine. These programs will integrate patient-centered research with existing clinical genomics infra-structure, and implementation science.

This is a hybrid role, which requires that work be performed from the Stanford Medical School campus three days per week, with the option to work from a non-Stanford work site, such as home, the remaining days.

Duties include:

Lead and oversee development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements. Oversee the development, adherence to, and implementation of program policies and procedures.Lead strategic planning for the program/entity.Represent the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and other stakeholders. Provide expert consultation related to program development, funding opportunities, or other specialty area.Develop outreach strategy related to program communications, development, partnerships and fundraising/funding. Identify external funding opportunities and write proposals and research grants. Develop and oversee strategic financial planning and sustainability for the program/entity, as needed; monitor performance and ensure appropriate controls.Teach or co-teach courses; oversee the administration of courses; create and/or advise in the development of curriculum; and/or advise students, coach and mentor clients and program staff.Coach and mentor program staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced Degree (at least Masters’ level) in genetics or genetic counseling.Experience working in an academic, matrixed institution.Experience with program management across independent entities, preferably in biotech.Experience in building genome interpretation pipelines (including informatics builds) and returning results to patients.Experience teaching and mentoring graduate students and post doctoral fellows in genetics and/or medical subspecialties.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Advanced degree and five or more years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience.Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.Ability to oversee and direct staff.Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The expected pay range for this position is $140,184 to $175,260 per annum.
