SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Director, Global Facilities Engineering is responsible for leading global facilities engineering operations, overseeing Integra’s real estate portfolio including offices, high-tech R&D laboratories and manufacturing facilities including clean rooms. This senior leadership position is accountable for driving the strategic planning, optimal building utilization, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities across multiple locations. The role will ensure that all facilities are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational goals for operational efficiency, safety, cost, continuity planning and innovation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Global Oversight:
Lead and manage the global facilities engineering department, overseeing a team of engineers who develop and execute the global facilities strategy to ensure facilities meet business and operational needs, optimizing the use of resources.
Develop strategies for facilities engineering, including opportunities to reduce space utilization, reduce utility and operating costs, reduce business continuity risks and improve safety.
Provide leadership in the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of manufacturing plants, laboratories, cleanrooms, office spaces, and other facilities.
Collaborate with senior management to align facilities engineering goals with the company's strategic objectives and product development timelines.
Leads and manages our real estate portfolio; Lease negotiation/renewals/handovers/decommissioning and works with the Enterprise Resilience team on footprint optimization strategies based on future LRP needs
Facility Design & Construction:
Lead the design and construction of new facilities, expansions, and renovations to support product manufacturing, R&D, and office spaces globally.
Manage the full lifecycle of construction projects, including budgeting, timelines, vendor selection, contractor management, and quality assurance. Ensure all facilities engineering projects are completed achieving all desired deliverables with a quality product, on-time and within budget.
Oversee the development of facility design specifications, including cleanrooms, controlled environments, laboratories, and production areas, ensuring compliance with medical device manufacturing standards.
Drive the selection and implementation of building technologies, systems, and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
Establish a network of external resources for facilities engineering, including Architectural and Engineering firms, General Contractors, etc.
Works with real estate brokers and local municipalities as needed to foster relationships and complete tasks related to facilities engineering projects and initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
Ensure that all facilities are designed, constructed, and maintained in compliance with local, national, and international regulatory standards, including FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, and environmental health and safety regulations.
Assure compliance to Integra quality, regulatory, environmental, health, safety and security programs.
Maintain compliance with the latest standards for medical device manufacturing, laboratory, and cleanroom environments, and stay informed of evolving industry guidelines.
Budget & Resource Management:
Develop and manage the capital and operational budgets for facilities engineering activities, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting.
Create and manage the facilities engineering budget and facilities engineering project budgets and ensure accurate forecasting and spending to achieve as close to zero variance as possible.
Monitor and optimize the use of resources, including contractors, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Evaluate and recommend investment in facility upgrades and expansions in alignment with the company's growth plans and product lifecycle.
Team Development & Cross-functional Collaboration:
Build and mentor a high-performing global facilities engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Partner with cross-functional teams including R&D, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Finance, EHS, Procurement, Legal and IT to ensure facilities engineering meets their needs and aligns with production schedules.
Provide technical guidance and support to other departments and site-based facilities teams regarding facility design and engineering challenges.
Develop and maintain a high-performance team utilizing Integra HR tools for hiring, talent and succession planning, and development planning. Manage the staffing, development, performance, and outcomes of the facilities engineering team.
Provide communications to various levels of the organization and key stakeholders to ensure they are appropriately informed and understand the work being completed and the value being delivered by the facilities engineering team.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related discipline(s). Advanced degree in Engineering or Architecture or related discipline(s) preferred.
10+ years of experience leading a team (direct reports or projects) or equivalent education and years of management experience
Experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred
Experience in new GMP site startup, GMP commissioning and GMP validation. Comprehensive understanding and experience in startup, shutdown, and maintenance of ISO 5, ISO 7 and ISO 8 Clean Room Facilities.
Management of facilities equipment repair/preventive maintenance programs as well as TPM program implementation.
Relevant experience in generating RFI/RFQ, SOW, specifications, value engineering, project budgeting, and construction cost estimate.
Relevant experience in working with local/regional architects, designers, MEP engineers, structural, specialty professional engineers.
Proven success in managing and delivering cross-functional tasks with effective liaison between EH&S, IT, Security and Procurement, including external contractors, vendors, professional consultants, and Fire/Building/Planning/governmental agencies.
Capital expenditure and project management experience.
Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all environmental and safety laws and regulations, including the Company’s environmental and safety policies and procedures.
Must be able to understand GREEN building initiatives.
Knowledge and experience applying continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
Ability to travel 30% of the time, or more, as role requires. Periodic International travel required as well as travel to and attendance at Medical Device Industry related events throughout the U.S. Europe and Asia.
