Purpose
Are you ready to take safety to the next level? Do you have the leadership skills to direct our Loss Prevention programs in the areas of people, property and processes and ensure loses are minimized including emergency/rapid response and hazardouse materials management plans.
Essential Duties
Work with sites to support the personal development for local managers to ensure they have the proper knowledge and skills to perform their work well.
Visit or have representatives visit the operations to review existing programs and systems of work and ensure that everyone is in compliance.
Ensure that throughout the entire region common and synergistic approaches are used for the disciplines mentioned exists e.g. Loss Prevention, Emergency/Rapid Response programs and contingency plans, and Hazardous Materials programs are using common approaches whenever practical.
Provide support to site personnel in ensuring adequate resources, personnel and reporting relationships exist for the functions listed.
Work with site HSLP Managers to ensure they have the knowledge and skills needed to perform their work to the highest standards.
Identify Loss Control training needs and ensure that the Loss Control philosophy is maintained through out the organization.
Develop overall communication strategies to ensure that the strategies, goals and programs are properly implemented.
Advise, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective Loss Prevention is implemented and working.
Provide direction in programs and ensure a common and effective approach exists for the Loss Control function.
Develop and review strategies and annual goals and plans for development of the regional operations programs.
Liaison with Corporate on all matters related to Loss Prevention. Loss Prevention responsibilities include safety, emergency and rapid response, as well as Hazardous materials management.
Personally review high potential accidents and incidents which occur throughout the region.
Develop standards and minimum Loss Control standards for the entire region.
coordinate special audits and inspections through out the entire region.
Budgeting responsibilities for the above mentioned functions.
Developing staff to ensure competency.

Training & Experience
Twelve + years of progressive experience in the areas of safety, loss prevention, hazardous materials management, emergency & rapid response.
A minimum of 15 years experience working in the mining industry or general industry in the area of loss prevention.
Education in related fields such as occupational health a definite asset.
Professionally recognized certification in the area of loss prevention.
Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Loss Prevention.
Ten years in a management role. Must have extensive subject matter expertise.
