Job Summary

A core component of Apotex’s integrated High Impact HR model is the US Country HR Head role.  
This role is located in Weston Florida supporting multiple Apotex Business Units.  This individual is the lead HR person in the US and as such is accountable for ensuring that all people programs and activities are compliant with relevant local employment  legislation and all Apotex policies and programs including Global Business Ethics and compliance, and Safety, Health and Environment.  The role partners with Executive leaders, the Global HR leadership team, and  Business HR Leaders to drive business results through the the HR Strategy and the delivery of HR Practices and Programs.  This position is also expected to shape the vision and execution of employee relations strategies within the US. 
As a member of the HR Partnering Leadership team and in conjunction with the VP and Chief of Staff, HR, the HR Country Head will establish annual HR goals/objectives, participate in the review of CoE programs, provide HR leadership and expertise to HR professionals to support the achievement of the Apotex Operating Plan and Business Strategy.  
 

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a dynamic HR team that supports the needs of the local business.  Ensure that all programs and activities are in support of the overall business strategy and are appropriately aligned with the Global HR CoEs. 
• As a trusted HR Leader, provide strategic and operational HR advice and guidance to executives, leaders and employees based in the assigned country.
• Lead the local HR Team to ensure the effective implementation and consistent application of identified HR programs, processes and systems across the region (e.g. Compensation, Performance Management, Talent.)
• Work closely with Executives, People Leaders, and the Employee Committee represenatives, responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of “positive employee experience” strategies and programs within the business. 
• Champion of established Talent Management practices focusing on talent acquisition, assessment, career development and succession planning.
• Partnering with other HR Leaders and specifically our HR Operations and Excellence CoE, champion the establishment and maintenance of an HR Shared Services model across the local business. 
• Ensure that all HR processes, policies and procedures across the local business are properly and thoroughly developed, implemented, and maintained and in full compliance with all legislative requirements.  Undertake needs assessment, establish vision, ensure ongoing monitoring and metrics, as required
• Support the Global CoEs in ensuring that all activities are consistent with the established Global CoE philosophy and programs. 
• Manage, guide and direct the Country HR Partners, People and Performance in the proactive management and resolution of people, legal and other business issues.
• Provide thought leadership, strategic and operational Human Resources advice/guidance to BHR’s on HR practices and how best to integrate them within the overall country’s business activities in support of the strategic plan. 
• As a key member of the HR Partnership Leadership team,commit to collaborate effectively towards the HR4HR and fiscal year HR Operational priorities.
• Develop and cascade key HR initiatives and objectives that are aligned to business needs and requirements, and with timelines that consider business priorities and resources.
• Build a High Impact HR team by developing people through engagement in key projects and initiatives.
• Ensure alignment of HR initiatives and objectives within the Country.
• Participate and lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee’s progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and, communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees.
• Utilize your networks to attract and hire talent in a comprehensive, differentiated and consistent manner essential to our continued growth; then, onboard new employees by providing a consistent experience that reflects the values and commitments made to candidates during the hiring process.  
• Ensure adherence of team members (direct reports) with all compliance programs and company policies and procedures.  

 

Job Requirements

Education

o    Undergraduate University degree in Business, Human Resources or a related discipline 
o    Advanced degree (MBA or Masters in HR) an asset.
o    Relevant HR certificate or Diploma 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

o    Proven ability to build and manage strong working relationships with colleagues and leadership teams in a heavily matrixed environment 
o    Influential and competent in HR best practices and able to establish rapport and credibility
o    Demonstrated ability to coach and be a leader to developing HR professionals
o    Proven track record in change management, developing and implementing  programs and policies that effectively drive business success
o    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Professional Experience

o    10 + years of progressive US HR and business experience, with a demonstrated understanding of the HR function. 
o    Previous experience working effectively in a matrix organization, both influencing and being influenced by others and ability to identify priorities when the apparent needs and requirements of the various stakeholders are different (challenge of balancing country, regional, global, human resources, business and corporate requirements).
o    Proven track record in talent management, change management, implementing corporate values and ethics and driving transformational corporate projects and initiatives across multiple geographies i.e. establishing new operations, growing current business, etc.
