Job Description

We are seeking an experienced business and human resources leader to join our team. This role will serve as Director, Human Resources Business Partner at our commercial manufacturing facility in El Segundo, CA, and partner with our global leadership team for Supply Chain. This individual will act as a strategic partner for senior business leaders and will have a business-focused approach to help translate objectives to workforce strategies. The role will support clients in multiple functions and geographic locations, serving as a key member of the Kite HR team on planning and delivering HR programs and services.

This role reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources for the Technical Operations function and will be based in El Segundo, CA. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Organizational Development: 

Collaborate with leaders to plan and implement workforce strategies that support growth and organizational effectiveness. 

Provide guidance on organizational structure changes and process improvements to ensure alignment with business objectives. 

Support thoughtful change management initiatives to foster smooth transitions and business continuity. 

 

Strategic Advisor: 

Act as a key business partner, working with leaders to align HR strategies with broader business objectives. 

Advise on organizational structure, resource planning, and process improvements to optimize team alignment with product pipeline and business deliverables. 

Support leaders in aligning workforce planning with the company’s strategic goals and operational model. 

 

Team Effectiveness: 

Support leaders in building high-performing teams by facilitating team chartering and team effectiveness activities. 

Assist in identifying and addressing pain points in team dynamics and ways of working, with a focus on improving collaboration and clarity in roles and responsibilities. 

 

Talent Development & Inclusion: 

Drive talent management processes, including development planning and succession planning, to build critical capabilities within the organization.  

Promote leadership and manager development by encouraging the use of learning resources and development tools. 

Partner with leaders to build and embed Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) strategies into daily operations and talent practices. 

Support the continuous development of employees to create opportunities for growth and career progression. 

 

HR Programs & Services: 

Ensure the seamless delivery of enterprise-wide HR programs, including performance management, rewards, and employee engagement initiatives. 

Conduct presentations and training sessions on HR-related topics as required to educate leaders and employees on HR best practices. 

Basic Qualifications 

 

MS/MA and 10+ years of experience in Human Resources OR – 

BS/BA and 12+ years of experience in Human Resources OR 

High School diploma and 18+ years of experience in Human Resources 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

BS or BA degree, preferably with an emphasis in HR or Business. Master’s degree preferred 

HR business partner experience with in-depth knowledge of HR practices, preferably with some experience in more than one HR function 

Strong track record of serving as a strategic HR partner for senior executives, HR leaders, and employees at all levels, preferably in life sciences, healthcare or pharma/biotech 

Strong track record of developing solutions to a wide range of highly complex problems 

Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business objectives into talent priorities 

Strong leadership competencies, demonstrating accountability for coaching, developing, progressing and retaining employees while ensuring an inclusive work environment 

Ability to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action 

Excellent active listening skills that encourage employee trust 

Professional and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 

Strong conflict management and resolution skills 

Proficient knowledge of employment laws, principles, policies, and procedures

The salary range for this position is: $187,000.00 - $242,000.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
