Director, Imaging
Position Summary

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital - Richmond is seeking a Director, Imaging Services.  This position reports to the Administrative Director, Imaging Services.  This position supports the President of the Richmond campus and oversees the overall function of Richmond's radiology department.

Responsibilities

1. Uses appropriate problem-solving approach to plan performance of services.

a. Develops and facilitates standards, goals, and objectives for areas of responsibility.

b. Reviews and updates departmental processes with affected staff.

c. Plans and implements daily work assignments based on volumes and staffing.

d. Assists with development of Imaging budget.

e. Evaluate patient status to determine method of exam.

f. Verify exam orders and make appropriate modifications

g. Utilizes technique chart located in rooms.

h. Has knowledge of daily quality control functions.

i. Coordinates exams with nursing staff and provider.

j. Manages staff to provide quality images and quality patient care.

2. Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/spiritual, and

age-specific needs of those served.

a. Acknowledges and demonstrates respect for individualized needs of those being served and

serves as role model for those behaviors to staff members.

b. Performs functions consistent with supervisory role, including hiring, evaluations, coaching and counseling.

c. Completes projects as assigned.

d. Produces optimal images when performing diagnostic x-rays.

e. Utilizes good positioning skills when creating patient images.

f. Maintains education hours as required by ARRT and FHC to include CPR.

g. Follows departmental guidelines for disposition of images.

h. Marks images with all required identification.

3. Uses equipment/supplies appropriately.

a. Operates equipment and trains staff to operate equipment at its most efficient level.

b. Maintains working knowledge for troubleshooting all equipment and systems related to areas of responsibility.

c. Maintains clinical competencies.

d. Operates office and communication systems to include Teleradiology and HBOC, PACS, and

Athena EMI System.

e. Appropriately selects and uses appropriate supplies needed to perform procedures and provide

patient care.

f. Orders office supplies as needed.

g. Responsible for insuring equipment is maintained and serviced.

4. Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures.

a. Promotes public, patient, employee and personal safety and health according to the Safety and Infection Control policies.

b. Follows guidelines set by OSHA and FHC requirements.

c. Adheres to radiation safety policies.

d. Complies with departmental and organizational safety and infection control measures.

e. Uses proper techniques when working with equipment to prevent unnecessary harm to patients,

staff, and/or equipment.

5. Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner.

a. Teaches functions of the job to employees as needed.

b. Serves as information systems support resource for Imaging.

c. Communicates with staff, peers and others on organization related issues.

d. Informs employees of policy and procedure changes.

e. Good communication skills.

f. Anticipates informational needs of those served.

g. Does QA audits on technologist’s images and provides guidance to technologists pertaining to

quality.

6. Reports/records information correctly.

Prepares reports as required

a. Prepares reports as required.

b. Maintains appropriate files and records for other areas of responsibility.

c. Documentation on images, requests, and oversees QC.

d. Documents and reports equipment failures to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

· Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or other clinical specialty preferred

· Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience and 2 years of direct supervisory experience required

· ARRT, RDMS, or CNMT certification required

· BCLS Required
