Your Responsibilities

Operational Internal AuditDrive annual risk assessment for assigned part of audit universeLead audit teams preparing work papers, schedules, and summaries documenting audit evidence, audit findings, and conclusions.Ensure work papers are following department and IIA standardsDraft comprehensive, yet easy to understand, audit reports to summarize audit findings. Propose recommendations for changes to address the root cause of issues and participate consultatively in agreed upon remediation plans with the client to the extent possible.Coordinate management and Board level reporting.Manage resources – a mix of FTE internal auditors and co-source consultants –to complete various milestones.Department LeadershipLead and participate in Internal Audit department initiatives.Participate in department Quality Assurance activitiesBe an ambassador for Internal Audit and SOX within the organization.Lead department administrative initiatives such as Board Reporting, Professional Practices, Resource/Time Tracking and Management Action Plan reportingRegularly interact with senior and middle management, as well as internal and external peers to develop strong relationshipsSpecial projects, due diligence and management requests, as assigned.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

The candidate must have a college degree within accounting, information systems or related major.10 plus years of audit/accounting experienceMust have the CPA, CIA or CISA designation.5-8 years of supervisory experience and project management expertise.Proven track record of building solid relationships with clients, including demonstrated abilities to approach clients in an organized and knowledgeable manner and to deliver clear results of audit issues identified and negotiate agreeable remediation plans.Desirable expertise of information security controls, infrastructure platforms, databases and system development life cycle methodology and audit data analyticsDesirable expertise in Sarbanes Oxley compliance and current regulatory developments.Must display sound business sense and logic and should be able to distinguish between important and unimportant matters when evaluating audit and SOX results and making recommendations.Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to request and/or collect relevant information, identify potential exposures/gaps, summarize conclusions, construct recommendations, present recommendations, collaborate on the design/testing/implementation of controls, and evaluate control resultsStrong written and verbal communications skills, including presenting, listening and interviewing skills.Ability to work well in team setting.Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitudeHighly motivated self-starter with ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Must be able to uphold Choice’s Values & Performance Principles of collaboration, performance excellence, sense of urgency, openness to new ideas, inclusion & diversity, integrity, customer focus, and respect.

Your Team

This is a leadership role that will report to the Vice President, Internal Audit & Financial Governance. You will have 1-2 direct reports as well as manage co-sourced resources and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Director, Internal Audit, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $161,000 to $175,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP)

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
