What You'll Contribute
The Director, Internal Audit - Finance/Treasury will be responsible for leading and managing our internal audit function, ensuring the organization operates with integrity, compliance, and effective risk management practices, having a keen awareness of banking and regulatory trends impacting Finance and Risk, audit data analysis skills, and risk management perspectives.
What You'll Do
Develop and execute a comprehensive internal audit strategy, aligned with organizational goals and objectives.Lead, mentor, and manage a team of internal auditors, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of audit plans.Establish and maintain productive relationships with senior management, department heads, and other stakeholders to gain insights into business processes, risks, and control systems.Conduct risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern and develop risk-based audit plans.Oversee and perform internal audits, including financial, operational, and compliance audits, to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement.Monitor and assess the adequacy of internal control systems, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.Prepare clear and concise audit reports, highlighting findings, recommendations, and action plans for senior management and the Audit Committee.Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of audit recommendations and monitor the progress of corrective actions.The above information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this job; it is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees in this role.
What you have
Minimum education, skills and experience required.
Thorough knowledge of internal audit principles, methodologies, and standards, as well as a strong understanding of risk management and corporate governance principles.
Familiarity with relevant regulations, frameworks, and standards.
Advanced knowledge of finance concepts, particularly as it pertains to capital, liquidity, and interest rate risk management practices and procedures used in the banking industry.
Data analysis and the ability to understand key model inputs, outputs, and theoretical underpinnings.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively managing and developing a high-performing team.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information with utmost professionalism.
Continuous learning mindset, staying updated on industry trends and emerging practices in internal auditing.
Preferred education, skills, and experience.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, accounting, finance, or a related field. A relevant professional certification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is highly desirable.
Proven experience in internal audit, with 7+ years of progressive responsibility.
