ROLE SUMMARY:
This is a key internal leadership role, reporting directly to the VP of Communications. This director leads all company-wide employee communications, engaging our 18,000+ colleagues across more than 120 facilities. In this role you will translate our business into proactive, positive storytelling to drive employee engagement, and build brand reputation internally. The Director of Internal Communications will work directly with senior leaders, including the U.S. CEO, Chief External Affairs Officer, Chief People Officer, and the broader U.S. management team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
Lead the development/refinement, execution and measurement of the internal communications strategy
Work with the full communications team to ensure our company strategy and narrative is understood across the company
Lead key company “moments”, including:
Quarterly U.S. Town Hall meetings
Monthly Zone Leadership Team meetings
Company announcements
Senior personnel changes
Work with our People team and other functions to provide change management communications, as needed
Provide executive positioning support to the Chief People Officer
Develop / oversee the development of core communications materials, including:
Key messages / talking points
Scripts
Memos
Q&As
PowerPoint slides
Copywriting for internal platforms e.g. Newsletters, AB Television, Intranet, Internal postings etc.
Supervise agency partners to develop core materials, as listed above
Supervise agency partners, and internal partners to create (or repurpose) compelling creative assets
Coordinate with internal departments (sales, marketing, HR, IT, etc.) and our global colleagues to ensure internal alignment
Support the HR team with people-focused announcements and messaging e.g. review of benefits announcements
Coordinate with HR re. employer branding strategy and execution, ensuring seamless alignment
Ensure that key internal channels are updated e.g. weekly newsletter, intranet, TV screens
Develop and implement the strategy for employee advocacy platform to engage colleagues
Support Legal and Corporate Affairs communications efforts including function Town Halls and internal programming
Manage quarterly KPI dashboards, monitoring colleague engagement through all internal channels; refining strategy accordingly
Create programming for CEO’s quarterly internal Podcast series
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing.
Strong written, verbal and visual communications skills.
Consumer packaged goods experience (in-house or agency) preferred.
Management experience (managing vendors and/or direct reports) preferred.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, requests and deadlines while staying cool under pressure and maintaining a positive attitude
Creative, resourceful and self-motivated with passion for solving problems.
Comfortable working closely with senior executives with poise and professionalism.
Energetic, positive and optimistic approach to work.
