Director, Internal R&D Communications

As the Director, Internal R&D Communications, you will support BioPharmaceuticals R&D and be responsible for leading on delivery of engaging scientific communications materials, campaigns and events.

Through expert scientific knowledge, you will develop inspiring content to showcase our strategy, scientific leadership and organisational achievements to internal audiences using innovative approaches and impactful channel management. You will also play a leading role in delivery of engaging scientific events and will liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, from across BioPharmaceuticals R&D. You will be a key member of the BioPharmaceuticals R&D Corporate Affairs team, working closely with internal and external communicators to ensure alignment of activities and messaging.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading on creation and delivery of compelling scientific content, evolving established approaches and also implementing novel strategies, to drive best-in-class employee engagement. You will support the Head of Internal Science Communications in BioPharma R&D, taking a significant role in developing our internal communications strategy alongside ownership of our BioPharma R&D channels. You will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of high-profile scientific events to drive impactful engagement with audiences across BioPharma, R&D, and various leadership groups.  You will also support delivery of engaging content for use internally and externally by senior leaders and will deliver excellent communication of strategic and organisational progress.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field, and minimum of ten years of relevant experience; Master's degree is preferred.Experience of drug discovery/development and the life science sectorExcellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with scientific and complex informationExperience of managing complex communications programmes and / or campaignsTrack record of planning and delivering successProven ability to drive projects forward to a successful conclusion in a matrix organisationProactive with effective interpersonal and influencing skillsWillingness and proven ability to function in a hands-on capacity when necessary to achieve milestones, resolve issues and build an organisation/function capable of driving toward measurable objectivesAble to recognise or anticipate change with appropriate responseExcellent attention to detailExcellent stakeholder management skills and ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders and other key stakeholdersBroad business perspective and acumen and goal-oriented approachAble to devise and effective implement novel approaches to optimise audience engagementAble to take on leadership of communication events and campaigns, managing all aspects of effective planning and delivery to drive successful outcomes.
