Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Employment & Labor, the Labor Counsel will have overall responsibility for the labor relations function at Sunbelt. This person will be a true expert in labor relations management and will develop a comprehensive strategy for the Company’s labor relations in North America and will provide proactive, practical, and timely advice and counsel to Sunbelt. This person must enhance and build on internal relationships across the Company; with unions and their leadership; and with appropriate government officials/agencies with emphasis on the NLRB. The Labor Counsel will be responsible for anticipating future business/labor/employee relations issues, trends and strategies, obstacles, and opportunities, and for developing, in concert with Sunbelt leadership and HR management, appropriate training programs, strategies, tools, and resources.

Position Responsibilities:
Create and execute a comprehensive labor strategy and function within Sunbelt in collaboration with Company leadership and HR management.Develop and lead the Company’s approach and direction on collective bargaining agreements including mid-term agreements, negotiations, and CBA administration to include leading the team through the negotiations process.Manage problem resolution on complex grievances, arbitration preparation, board charges, collective bargaining, and other labor litigation issues.Train and educate Company leaders about labor relations policies and proactively support business clients in the full scope of their labor needs.Liaise with leadership, manage outside counsel and consultants, and work with the relevant business partners to handle labor matters in an efficient and effective manner.Work closely with HR business partners on developing site level positive employee relations strategies and tactics.Anticipate future business/labor/employee relations issues, trends and strategies, obstacles and opportunities, and develop, in concert with Company leadership and HR management, appropriate programs, responses, strategies, tools and resources.Support other attorneys on various client issues across disciplines as requested.Other duties as assigned by the EVP, General Counsel and VP, Associate General Counsel as the Company’s needs requireRequirements:
J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.7-9+ years of relevant labor law experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.Natural gravitas and presence; the ability to calibrate and interact with a diverse group of constituents across all levels of the organization and in the field to build trust and buy-in.Creative and practical problem-solving ability with a focus on maximizing value and minimizing risk.Excellent communication skills, sound business and legal judgment, and a self-starter with a roll-up your sleeves mentality.Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and able to operate when faced with certain levels of ambiguity, while always maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity.Availability and willingness for some travel.

Base Pay Range: $144,862.00 - 199,184.70Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
