Department Details

This position oversees operations primarily at our Amber Valley facility but also other areas as assigned. Primary responsibility of this role will be working with our pathology team and leadership to continue to move our department forward.

Summary

Responsible for providing administrative leadership, expertise, and direction to the Laboratory Departments. Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Develops and monitors appropriate indicators for quality and continuous improvement. Works closely with other leaders and physicians.

Job Description

Direct the operations of the laboratory departments including human resources, budget and finance, and legal and regulatory compliance.
Expected to effectively interview, hire, counsel, discipline and, when needed, terminate employees. Supports and mentors managers and supervisors when dealing with staffing, personnel, or process issues. Serves as a resource and primary laboratory contact and represents the laboratory on an interdisciplinary and enterprise level. Has major responsibility for implementing the vision and mission of the organization within the departments. Expected to contribute to the strategic planning process and attainment of goals of the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Five years of management experience desired.

Possess a national laboratory certification or laboratory specialty certification through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
