Director, Legal Affairs USA

Principal Job responsibilities include:

Negotiating and drafting agreements relevant to a variety of aspects of the convenience store business.Working closely with management personnel to provide practical business solutions to day-to-day aspects of the business.Managing and coordinating with outside counsel as warranted.Providing education and training to other members of the legal department and various business teams.Identifying process for improvement with the legal department and the business and recommending and implementing solutions.Procurement/Contract management - Contract review, drafting and negotiation (globally, nationally, regionally and locally). Produce and update templates for contracts and other legal documents and participate in negotiations where required. Regulatory – Competition (FTC), liquor, environmental, lottery, and compliance with local and state laws.  Privacy – Ensure compliance with US privacy laws/regulations, ensure privacy standards are up to date, review and negotiate agreements with a privacy component.   IT Contracts - review, draft and negotiate IT agreements.  Marketing – Review and draft disclaimers, T&Cs for sales promotions, contests rules, advise the teams on laws and potential risks.  

We will consider candidates with the following qualifications:

A current State Bar license, in good standing10+ years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of corporate legal department and law firm experience.Experience and proficiency in the following legal areas: contract drafting and negotiations, retail and petroleum industry related issue, and counseling clients on business issues and transactionsExcellent writing and skillsStrong verbal and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with legal and business partners worldwideStrong relationship building skillsSuperior organizational skills and attention to detail with a track record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and consistently meeting deadlinesA positive attitude

CANDIDATES WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE CONVENIENCE STORE and/or PETROLEUM INDUSTRY WILL BE GIVEN TOP PRIORITY
