Overview
The Director, Life Science Commercialization is a pivotal role that provides leadership in the development and execution of commercialization strategies for life science based technology and solutions. Reporting to the VP, Chief Innovation and Commercialization Officer, this role is expected to primarily support the Center for Discovery and Innovation on behalf of the Office of Innovation and Commercialization in an effort to maximize the commercialization of intellectual property in the pursuit of tangible revenue streams. This role will be responsible for developing business opportunities for emerging and existing inventions in collaboration with the leadership of Center of Discovery and Innovation as well as HMHRI as appropriate. The role will require collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Finance, Legal, and Strategy, as well as others as needed.
The Center for Discovery and Innovation- CDI was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases. The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 32 labs, 190 scientists and allied personnel supported by 60 NIH grants and more than 30 other grants and contracts. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, and pharmacology.

This position will offer a hybrid schedule; will be a combination of on site work in Nutley, NJ, various client meetings throughout NJ, and remote work.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Advanced degree in relevant field (Ph.D., J.D., M.B.A., or equivalent). Minimum of 8 years of experience in technology commercialization of life science technology.Possess strong analytical skills, including an understanding of business economics and financial resources. Ability to understand organizational goals and align commercialization strategies for life science inventions. Strong ability to manage complex commercial relationships from conception to commercial results (implementation, achievement of milestones and organizational objectives). Patient and effective communication skills to understand technology needs of researchers, administrators, and executives. Build trusted advisor relationships. Demonstrated experience working within complex and evolving legal and financial structures. Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
