Director, Liquid Cooling Technology
**Position Overview:** The Director of Engineering - Liquid Cooling Technology is a newly created and highly visible role responsible for developing and implementing Eaton's technology and deployment strategy for liquid cooling, with an initial focus on chips (GPUs, CPUs, etc.) and subsequently on power electronics components (IGBTs, high-frequency transformers, etc.). This role encompasses identifying new business and technology opportunities, forging internal and external strategic partnerships, securing external funding, acting as an external advocate, and managing programs. Liquid cooling represents a growth area in data centers for Eaton, and it also stands out in applications utilizing power electronics. The Director supports large, high-performing teams to achieve the organization's sustainability goals. This leader designs, leads, and oversees multi-million dollar projects across various technology programs to drive innovation and sustainability in data center cooling and advanced concepts. The Director collaborates with Eaton businesses to align and advance strategy. While data centers present an immediate opportunity, the role also involves identifying collaboration prospects and technology spillovers into power electronics areas such as high-density power racks, UPS, or SST deployed outdoors. Moreover, it explores applications for EV onboard inverters and power supply applications within the vehicle and aerospace sectors. The Director identifies, prioritizes, and pursues new technology areas that will drive growth for the company, particularly in liquid cooling. This includes applications for cooling chips in data centers and evaluating fundamental technologies, such as single-phase versus two-phase cooling and positive versus negative pressure systems, along with components like cold plates, connections, and CDUs, and systems-level opportunities. **Essential Functions:** + Oversee and direct engineering projects related to Liquid Cooling Technology, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. + Identify, prioritize, and pursue new technology areas that will drive growth for the company, particularly in liquid cooling. + Seek funding, advocate with agencies such as the Department of Energy, ARPA-E, and Defense, and speak at conferences, including those in the EU. + Manage a portfolio of engineering programs, including directing specific programs, as an essential responsibility. + Leverage extensive knowledge of relevant technology, government regulations, policy, customer strategies, and emerging business models. + Build collaborations across the company and work closely with technology leaders at major processor and server OEMs, acting as an internal advocate. + Provide leadership and guidance to engineering teams working on Sustainable Aviation, Data Center Cooling, and advanced technology concepts. + Foster a culture of innovation and sustainability within the engineering teams. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies. + Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. + Monitor project performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. + Represent the company in industry forums and conferences to showcase advancements in Liquid Cooling Technology. **Qualifications & Experience:** + Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. + 15+ years of professional experience in roles of increasing responsibility with 10 years in a large, multi-billion revenue, matrixed global organization + 5+ years of experience leading and developing large, high-performing project teams + 5+ years of experience managing large-scale, multi-million revenue projects with successful outcomes. + Extensive technical knowledge of datacenter and energy systems architectures, including high-density GPU deployment for ML/AI applications, IT systems architectures, energy management, and heat reuse. + 10+ years of experience leading large-scale engineering projects with over 200 employees. + Experience working with Liquid Cooling Technology to deliver successful business solutions and outcomes At Eaton, we strive to provide compensation and benefits that attract, engage, and retain the best talent.
