POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Director, Manufacturing is responsible for one or more of the Manufacturing process areas: Fractionation, Purification, Filling and/or Packaging, which involves the managing across functions to safely deliver high quality product on time and within budget as well as managing personnel and overseeing changes to the area.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Directs the continuous shift/multiple process manufacturing operations for the respective areas.   Assures adequate resources are available for safe, cGMP compliant production through appropriate planning and allocation of technical and human resources. Assures and maintains harmonious relations with all employees and other departments to maintain high employee morale. Improves manufacturing cost effectiveness by employing state of the art technologies and monitoring and controlling of yield, spending, write-offs, and other variances. Assures a high level of safety awareness and performance by providing training and leadership in the prevention of accidents. Coordinates with support groups such as QA, process Validation, RA and Engineering to resolve issues affecting production and/or successful product release. Manages the establishment of manufacturing policies, systems, and procedures for production. Improves product quality and maintains compliance with respective federal and international regulations for cGMP's, governmental compliance and corporate standards. Meets all production and release requirements and maximize yields and efficiency while minimizing quality problems.  Assures the appropriate methodologies, practices, and technologies are brought to the manufacturing process.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related scientific field.  Master’s degree highly preferred.   Minimum 10 years of operations experience in an FDA regulated manufacturing facility - pharmaceutical, biologics, biotech, or medical device industry.  Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in an FDA regulated environment. Interacts routinely with senior leaders across the Grifols organization, leading technical experts, and division heads of major functional areas in directing the operation. Demonstrates high levels of value and integrity. Instills company visions, values and beliefs in others by example.  Actively pursues and manages process optimization, project management. Proactively develops positive employee and community relations. Provides leadership and strategy for compliance programs and issues.

 

 

The estimated pay scale for the Director, Manufacturing role based in Los Angeles, CA, is $184,000 - $200,000/ per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
