The Opportunity

Our location in Alameda, CA currently has an opportunity for a Director, Market Access and Reimbursement. This individual will set strategic direction, lead development and communication of value messaging for Abbott products and therapies by providing health economic and reimbursement support for customers. This may include health economic studies, health economic data analysis, reimbursement analysis and strategy (coverage, coding, and payment).

Key internal customers may include new product planning teams, clinical science and operations, medical affairs marketing, sales and geography reimbursement teams. Key external customers may include provider customers (hospital economic buyers and physicians), private payers, government agencies, physician societies and industry trade associations.

What You’ll Work On

• Sets direction and leads cross-functional teams on development of global health economic, value messaging, reimbursement and coverage strategies based on robust understanding of clinical, financial and technical stakeholder needs and decision-making process.

• Manages key relationships with providers, payer, reimbursement teams and sales force as appropriate. Support each customer group to address their needs and expectations of the business partnership, effectively communicates the Abbott value proposition.

• Provides payor, clinician and patient perspective on development of internal/external coverage/reimbursement and ROI education, tools and support.

• Collaborates with medical affairs, clinical affairs and marketing on evidence generation to support market access

• Provides strategic direction on economic buyer and commercial payer-related issues related to reimbursement, coverage, and contracting for the Abbott product portfolio.

• Facilitates communication to keep internal Abbott management regularly informed about coding/coverage/reimbursement issues affecting the company and its customers.

•  Manages outside vendor relationships and projects.

• Manages cost center budget; may supervise department budget.

• Represents Abbott externally

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceMinimum of 7 years’ of functional experience in reimbursement

The base pay for this position is $164,900.00 – $329,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
