Director, Medical Affairs

Job Purpose:

To shape and lead the Medical Affairs strategy across MENA, ensuring the development and effective implementation of comprehensive medical affairs plans and strategic activities within the MENA region.

Key Accountabilities:

 

Participates in the development of the MENA Medical Affairs strategy in line with Hikma strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies across Hikma. Ensures that the MENA Medical Affairs strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented in line with the vision and mission of Hikma. Participates in the development and recommends improvements of the MENA Medical Affairs policies and procedures and manages the implementation to ensure all relevant procedural and regulatory requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost- effective service to customers. Oversee the consolidation and recommends the MENA Medical Affairs budget and monitors financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon. Leads and guides project management teams in the planning, organizing, management and control of various projects in order to ensure that the project cycle is completed meeting agreed project parameters (cost budget, timelines, scope, and quality), standards and objectives. Oversee the creation and execution of medical affairs plans for each country within the region, ensuring compliance with ethical standards, regulations and Hikma policies. Monitors and evaluate the effectiveness of the plans for medical affairs and adjusts as needed to achieve the desired outcomes. Leads the MENA Medical Science Liaisons teams. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and other relevant stakeholders in the MENA region. Represents the Medical Affairs Department in regional forums and discussions. Collaborates closely with MENA Commercial and Market Access teams. Serves as a key medical advisor to internal teams, providing expert guidance on medical affairs-related matters. Manages the effective achievement of the Medical Affairs Department objectives through setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff in order to maximize subordinate performance. Stimulates subordinates and contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering industry best practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement. Manages the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet Hikma and department’s requirements, policies and standards. Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the section in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude. Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.

 

Qualifications:

MD or PharmD or PhD or equivalent degree in Life Sciences.

Minimum Experience:

10+ years’ experience.

Minimum of 4 years in medical affairs with managerial experience.
