GENERAL DUTIES
Miscellaneous:
Creates monthly medical staff newsletter, other marketing materials and disseminates them. Coordinates medical staff related events, e.g., medical staff meetings/dinners, doctor's day, holiday events, etc.
Finance:
Manages department salary and non-salary budget to comply with established guidelines. Manages payroll for department staff. Maximizes the use of technical, human and financial resources by coordinating similar project activities with other departments to ensure system-wide approaches to optimize resources.
People - Medical Staff Office:
Disseminates communication to the medical staff from the leadership as appropriate. Serves as a leader and supervises, directs, motivates and counsels assigned personnel as necessary. Performs annual and/or initial performance evaluations. Develops and updates departmental policies and procedures manual and job descriptions. Develops goals and objectives of the department. Ensures secretarial support is provided for all medical staff activities and miscellaneous clerical duties. Ensures medical staff calendar is up-to-date and all meeting dates, agendas and minutes are up to date.
Quality - Continuing Medical Education (CME) and FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluations)/OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations):
Oversees FPPE/OPPE process for medical staff providers to include dissemination of evaluations/ scorecards and maintenance of records in compliance with TJC guidelines. Oversees CME program and assures compliance with CME accreditation requirements. Oversees maintenance of FPPE/OPPE/CME records to ensure proper documentation in accordance with requirements. Ensures medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies are compliant with TJC, other regulatory agencies standards and ensures enforcement.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
3 years of hospital experience required.
3 years in a Medical Staff Office preferred.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or 5 years of experience in a health care field or equivalent work experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of medical staff methods and procedures.
Knowledge and skill in modern office practices and administration.
Advanced computer skills, ability to manage databases, analyze problems and develop solutions.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with the medical staff and other professionals in order to engender confidence, respect and dependability.
Ability to maturely handle a variety of problems and situations, sometimes of a critical or urgent nature.
Ability to develop and implement methods and procedures for improvement of the comprehensive and specialized credentialing program.
Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing and to handle confidential information.
