+ GENERAL SUMMARY
+ The Director, Mental Health Outpatient Services provides administrative leadership, program development and implementation, and operational oversight of outpatient mental health services, including MH Therapy, Psychiatry, and Psychology services. Specialty programs within the scope of this administrator’s responsibilities may also include Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program, school-based and integrated primary care programs, and Bridge Crisis Clinic.
Responsibilities are comprehensive in scope, involving responsibility for management operations. Development of processes to promote quality of service, budget construction and compliance, and strategic direction of programs are key elements of this role. A high level of independence in performance of the role and solving challenges is expected. Demonstrated cooperation and collaboration is equally essential for successful functioning. Work involves oversight and participation in department-related committees. Reports to the Vice President of the Mental Health Service Line.
+ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Works to foster an environment where patients’/families’ psychosocial, emotional, and behavioral health needs are effectively served to include supervision of staff, coordination of all program elements, and quality monitoring / improvement.
+ Develops departmental goals, objectives, operational policies and procedures. Aligns with Physicians and other clinicians as a resource for strategic program development and planning. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments.
+ Plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff. Serves as a resource to staff regarding specific skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge and communications. Leads, motivates, and coaches staff to achieve their fullest potential, as well as the mission and goals of the organization.
+ Develops and administers departmental budgets and corrects negative variances with focus on sustainability of programs.
+ Plans and administers, directly and through subordinates, the effective operational management of services and programs. Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures, health standards, and state / federal regulations.
+ Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other activities as assigned.
+ Performs all other duties as assigned.

+ MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ Required Education and Experience
+ Ability to prepare reports, policies and budgets at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in human services and/or healthcare management.
+ Seven to ten years of progressively more responsible post-licensure work experience required with 5+ years of social work management at the director level.
+ Preferred Education and Experience
+ Master’s degree preferred.
+ Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain hospital and department policies and procedures, and communicate effectively with other professionals.
+ Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
+ Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility, including theory, practice, and administration, to direct planning and implementation of programs.
+ Analytical skills necessary to organize and oversee work of subordinates.
+ Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Roles in Children’s Pavilion: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.
