The Director of Mobile Engineering is a key leadership role in shaping the future mobile strategy of Allegion’s most mission- critical digital products. This management position leads a team of Software Engineers that support the Global Software Solutions portfolio of custom software solutions including Yonomi, Zentra, Mobile Credentials, Schlage Home, and others.  

In this role, the leader will define and champion a vision for mobile architecture, prioritizing scalability, and ease of integration. Collaborate with product to set the strategy for exploring and capitalizing on SaaS opportunities within the mobile space, They will drive collaboration across teams (FW, HW, Design, Platform..etc.) to develop reusable components and resources, enabling faster development cycles and a shared foundation ensuring that Allegion remains at the forefront of innovation and meets the evolving needs of our customers. 

Additionally, this role will influence the Software Verification Organization to adopt best practices in automated testing, enhancing efficiency. Clear communication and alignment of the mobile strategy across product segments will be vital, as will empowering teams to adhere to architectural standards and improve shared assets for greater collaboration and efficiency.  

What you’ll do:  

Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing mobile engineering team responsible for delivering top-tier mobile applications and SDKs. 

Establish and drive a forward-looking mobile engineering strategy focused on quality, performance, and alignment with organizational objectives. 

Define and uphold mobile development standards, processes, and best practices across the team to ensure consistency and excellence. 

Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, and Design, to enable seamless development, testing, and release of high-quality mobile applications and SDKs. 

Oversee architecture, development, and deployment of mobile features, prioritizing functionality, performance, and reliability. 

Identify opportunities for automation in CI/CD and testing, improving efficiency and minimizing manual tasks. 

Monitor and resolve mobile application and SDK issues, fostering continuous improvement in stability and user experience. 

Evaluate and adopt tools, frameworks, and technologies that boost team productivity and streamline workflows. 

Stay at the forefront of industry trends and mobile advancements, promoting innovation and enhancement of engineering practices. 

Mentor and coach mobile engineers, fostering a supportive environment for professional growth and high performance. 

Establish and communicate key metrics for progress, quality, and performance to stakeholders and senior leadership. 

Collaborate with external vendors, partners, and clients to ensure effective integration and alignment for projects involving SDKs. 

Provide technical expertise and strategic direction to drive engineering efforts, championing quality, performance, and reliability in mobile applications. 

Partner with senior engineering leadership to advocate for and implement high-quality engineering practices within the team and across the organization. 

 

What you need to succeed:  

15+ years of software engineering experience with a deep focus on mobile, application, and SDK development and performance. 

8+ years in engineering leadership, managing, and scaling high performing, globally distributed mobile engineering teams. 

Proven record of accomplishment of building and leading world-class mobile engineering teams that deliver high-quality, user-focused mobile applications. 

Extensive experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent, empowering managers and leads in achieving team objectives. 

Strong focus on cross-functional collaboration, especially with Product, Design, and QA, ensuring cohesive and effective product delivery. 

Servant leadership approach, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engagement within mobile engineering. 

Skilled communicator with a proven ability to present complex technical strategies to executive stakeholders and align them with organizational goals. 

Deep expertise in mobile development ecosystems (iOS, Android) and native languages (Swift, Kotlin), with proficiency in SDK development and deployment. 

Demonstrated success in implementing CI/CD pipelines and mobile-specific testing automation to streamline release cycles and enhance code quality. 

User experience-driven approach, ensuring mobile applications are intuitive, accessible, and highly engaging. 

Proven ability to leverage user feedback and analytics to drive continuous product improvements and prioritize roadmap features. 

Experienced in working with B2B clients to understand needs, with a focus on SDK product alignment and scalability. 

In-depth knowledge of emerging mobile technologies such as 5G and IoT, with an understanding of when and how to apply them. 

Familiar with cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter, Kotlin Multi-Platform), with the ability to balance native and cross-platform development needs. 

Expert in delivering high-availability, secure, and compliant mobile applications and SDKs while adhering to platform-specific guidelines (Apple App Store, Google Play).

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.  

The expected Base Salary Range: $181,750 - $273,400. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
