Who is the Director, Monetization & Partner Strategy, APAC
The Director for Monetization & Partner strategy, APAC, will play a critical role in maximizing the value of used or second-hand phones and laptops across new and existing programs across APAC, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. These programs include various product offerings, such as device protection, trade-ins, and upgrades.
This role will be responsible for designing, building, and executing Second-Life strategies suitable to each Geo (Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan) to purchase and liquidate used or second-hand devices (mobile phones and laptops) across multiple channels, including online marketplaces, refurbishment and resale platforms, direct-to-consumer, auction sites, wholesale distribution, and Recycling/Refurbishment Programs and will drive profitability by identifying, negotiating, and managing partnerships with various stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure efficient disposal of handsets and laptops and optimize revenue from device re-sales, liquidation, and/or refurbishments.
What are the key responsibilities?
Channel Diversification: Identify, establish, and explore partnerships with critical sales channels, including online marketplaces, retail, auction sites, panel of buyers, and direct-to-consumer outlets, to liquidate used phones or laptops.Strategic Partnerships: Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with external partners, including resellers, mobile carriers, wholesalers, refurbishment facilities and auction sites.Revenue Optimization: Drive the highest possible return on investment (ROI) for every device that passes through the monetization or liquidation process. This will require participating in pricing strategies (forward pricing vs spot pricing), bundling strategies, and ideating promotions.Market Analysis: Analyze the market conditions and conduct market research, including pricing trends (price differentiation based on device grading), consumer demand (preferred brands, make and model, condition of devices, and competitor activities).Operations Management: Assess and manage operational risks associated with liquidation techniques, including unsold inventory, low resale value, quality issues, market fluctuations, device conditions, and potential regulatory changes.Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and track KPIs to measure and report on success against various liquidation techniques, primarily the number of units sold, revenue per device, partner performance, revenue generated, margins, and overall performance against the targeted AOP. Regularly analyze and report on performance, metrics, and other vital data points to senior management. Use data to make informed decisions and drive strategic changes.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Continuous interaction with various departments, including Product, Finance, and Information Technology, to ensure adequate support and approvals are obtained before putting plans into execution.Maximize and Exploit Technologies: Partner with technology teams to deploy and industrialize technical solutions, including machine learning solutions, to understand trends and past and future performance.Vendor Management: Manage relationships with outsourced vendors, including selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, and monitoring their performance to ensure they meet contractual and service level agreements. Publish weekly reports and track the vendor SLAs to meet Asurion customer and client needs.Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage large teams across multiple countries, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement and responsible for all aspects of team management, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation.Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all operations comply with international standards and legal.Here’s what you’ll bring to the team:
With at least 6 to 8 years of experience in implementing monetization or partner strategies.In-depth knowledge of the second-hand mobile market and consumer behavior.Proven track record in working with second-life products and with a good network of buyers, key suppliers, telcos and smartphone manufacturers.Ability to analyze market data and trends to make informed pricing and liquidation strategy decisions.Strong negotiating abilities to establish and manage strategic partnerships with resellers and external vendors.Data enthusiasts with experience in handling any reporting tools (Power BI) and experience in vendor management is a plus.Strong business sense, assertive and result-orientated, and initiative to drive solutions.Leadership, planning and organizing, and people management skills and strong team building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills and is solutions driven with good presentation skills and ability to present ideas well.How we can take care of you:
