Director, Natrium Project Management

TerraPower is seeking a Director, Natrium Project Management who will lead and oversee a large team of project managers responsible for the successful execution of the Natrium Demonstration project. This critical leadership role requires extensive experience in managing large-scale projects, preferably in the energy or nuclear industry. The Director will be accountable for ensuring the appropriate project management team is in place to drive project performance to deliver on time and within budget, and the team is meeting the highest standards of project management practices. This role will report to the Project Director (Senior Vice President).

Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management Provide strategic direction and leadership to a large team of project managers and other project professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Cultivate a culture of learning and development within the project management team. Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for project managers. Establish a mentorship program to pair experienced project managers with junior staff, providing guidance and support for their professional growth. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to project managers. Ensure effective communication and coordination within the project team and with external stakeholders. Project Planning and Execution Oversee and guide the project management team’s development and implementation of comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management. Hold project management team accountable for driving project execution, achieving project deliverables, and staying within budget while still meeting scope and technical performance requirements. Work closely with the PMO to establish and maintain effective project controls and reporting systems. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards. Effectively communicate project updates and address stakeholder concerns. Risk Management Identify and assess potential project risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Monitor and report on risk status throughout the project lifecycle. Continuous Improvement Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and practices. Identify and implement best practices in project management methodologies. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in nuclear technology.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of 15 years of experience directly related to Project Management or Project Delivery, with demonstrated experience on large projects. Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Demonstrated experience working with highly multidisciplinary and matrixed teams. PMP certificate is strongly preferred.

·         Demonstrated experience managing projects executed under a high degree of regulatory oversight, with a preference for experience building Nuclear Power Plants.

Proficiency in project planning, implementation and delivering results.

·         Strong proficiency in project scheduling and budget control, EVMS tools, and project control requirements.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project.

·         Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA.

·         Experience with Primavera P6 is a plus.

·         Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.

·         Strong leadership acumen, with the ability to drive accountability across the organization.

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band.  Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
